Of Arms and the Law: Home invasion: some useless advice

But don’t grab a weapon, not even pepper spray! “They all sound like a good idea, but again, we don’t know how the burglar will react to seeing an armed person.” No, but we can probably predict how he will react to the impact of 1.25 ounces of 00 buck

  1. The comments in the original article are hilarious. Don’t arm up, the police are better trained. Ha. I was one of the best (Marines) and I was good enough that I taught the best. These idiots that think the police are so well trained don’t have a clue. Even if they could show up in time, they seem to need to empty their magazine just to get a couple of hits. I think I will depend on myself instead of someone that looks at their sidearm as something they have to carry.

    1. LOL @ “the police are better trained.” Most police shoot their weapon once a year to qualify.

I shoot two pistol matches a month, dry-fire practice at least 3 times a week, and live-fire practice on weekends I’m not shooting a match. And I’m a noob to pistol competition! Our match director could probably out-shoot any cop less skilled than Massad Ayoob.

The Founders meant for citizens to be trained in arms. So get trained and practice, people.

  2. What about the option where you trap the intruder in a system of clever traps and puzzles, and you taunt him from your network of secret tunnels and passageways, to the cost of his sanity? That would be a good one. I live in a 1000 sq ft house, with two small children. By the time I slide silently out of bed to go get them, I’ve been made. Also, my closet doors are curtains. And they’re full of clothes, so there isn’t a lot of room to hide in them unless I’m a toddler. They don’t seem to have any advice for me.
