Let me see if I got this right.

The Navy is going to prosecute an officer who used his personal weapon to confront the Islamic asshole in Chattanooga.

Some idiot is afraid of a very tiny pistol emoticon in the iPhone and he is demanding Apple to remove it from all the units.

Los Angeles City Council passes a total “High Capacity Magazine” ban even though it has been proven to have no effect in reducing crime.

And we find out that one of the guns used in the terrorist attempt in Garland, TX was sold under the auspices of ATF under the Fast and Furious operation and then they forgot all about it.

All this in one week? And we are the Nuts?

Apparently the Navy disagrees with Alan West.
The U.S. Navy is denying reports that it will file charges against a naval officer who used a weapon to return fire against Chattanooga gunman Muhammad Abdulazeez during last month’s deadly attack.
    ….
“Stories of Navy personnel being charged with an offense are not true. There is still a long way to go in reviewing the facts of this tragic incident, but at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense,” the Navy said in a statement posted to social media.
Which is nice to hear, as I was one of those opining that the Navy might charge Lt. Cmdr. White and that the still-unnamed Marine said to also have fired back, or at least to have had a personal weapon, might face posthumous action to effectively deny his family benefits.

    stay safe.

    1. I wouldn’t put it pass some brown-nosing JAG to find out about the gun and come up the idea of possible charges seeing stars in his future, only to suddenly be told to hush once it got out and people got pissed.

  2. I read this statement– “at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged” as:
That doesn’t mean we weren’t considering it, and it doesn’t mean we STILL aren’t considering it. It just means that AT THIS MOMENT, we haven’t brought charges.

Give it time, they might let it go, they might pursue charges, if enough pressure can be brought to bear one way or another. Either way, his career in the Navy is done. It shouldn’t be, but it is.

  3. Allen West may be making a big stink of this now, in hopes of stopping the DOD from doing something really, really, really stupid. It is a lot harder to dismiss the charges after they are made, than to not habe made them originally.

The publicity and reaction may forestall the charges permanently. The problem is that he looks like a hysterical idiot by publically doing it this way.

  4. I see Jim Webb is also tweeting about the possibility of the DOD charging Lt Cdr White.

“Navy charging LCDR Tim White w/ a crime for trying to defend our sailors & Marines in #Chattanooga? He deserves a medal, not an indictment.”

“Before tweeting last night, we confirmed with a defense official that the Navy was seriously considering charging LCDR Timothy White.”

Former US Senator and former US Secretary of the Navy, Jim Webb is running for the Democrat nomination for President. If his contacts think it is possible also, then I would think it is possible too.

The DOD and the Navy are going to do something really, really, really stupid.
