  1. I have a Walther PK380 which I love shooting. Very accurate and has been jam free so far. yeah, after 400-500 rounds your hand is a little sore but hey, it is still fun! LMK if I need to stock up on ammo (more than currently have).

  2. And .32 ACP has been on the rise I’ve noticed.

I think a lot of people have realized that .380 is better with ball ammo anyway…and if all you’re doing is punching pencil holes then you may as well go .32 ball and not punish your hand as much.

  3. I have a PPK, an LCP, and a P3AT — and I love them all. Shot the P3AT last weekend — knocking down steel plates at about eight yards. Even with the abysmal sights. I had some Federal aluminum case ball ammo that worked really well. But, I only shot 50 rounds. I don’t have a hand fatigue problem but I don’t think I’ve ever shot more than 50 rounds at a time.

  4. Back around 1978-82, the last time .380 was the new hotness, I had three: A PPK/S (terrible trigger, and the slide made railroad tracks on my hand with every shot), a single-action AMT Backup (great size, shot well), and a Beretta 84 (best of the bunch, but the size of a Detective Special). When S&W came out with its first (sub)compact 9mm, the 469, I bought one, dumped my .380s, and never looked back.
I’m not knocking your choice, but they’re not for me. There’s more variety and better quality in .380 pistols today, but there’s still only so much you can do with a sub-100-grain bullet.

  5. I used to carry a SIG 230 and had no problems whatsoever… until a friend bought a Glock 36. One bored evening we whipped out a set of divides and a kitchen scale and found that the difference between 6+1 rounds of .45ACP and 7+1 rounds of .380 ACP was negligible.
Point is, there’s nothing wrong with .380 (IF you get good ammo for it)… but for the footprint of most platforms you can get in .380, you can get an actual 9mm or larger.
