I read Miguel’s post: Why Modern Racial Outrage is a bad joke.

One thing came to mind.

It takes on average 15 years for a person to go from conviction to execution.

During that time, every death row convict is entitled to an appeal.  In some states, the appeal is mandatory.

It’s during this process that groups like The Innocence Project can bring new evidence and seek to overturn the conviction and save an innocent man from death.  These appeals overwhelmingly help black convicts prove their innocence.

The internet is mad that Brandon Bernard was executed but Dylann Roof was not.

Bernard was convicted in 2000 and executed in 2020, lasting five years longer than the average.

Roof was convicted in 2017.  He is currently going through the appeal that he is legally entitled to.

So…

If the internet wants Roof, convicted in 2017 to be executed now, that means eliminating the appeals process that occasionally overturns a death row conviction, which disproportionately benefits black convicts.

Or they accept that Roof is going to be executed sometime between 2025 and 2035 because he’s entitled to the same long and laborious appeals process that all death penalty convect are entitled to, which (again) disproportionately benefits black convicts.

Long death row wait with appeals means better justice and more wrongfully convicted (predominately black) people are let get before execution.

Short death row without appeals means more wrongfully convicted (predominately black) people are executed.

As someone who is a fan of the death penalty, I’d rather Roof get his needle ten years from now if it means that there is a better chance of an innocent man having his conviction overturned because of the process.

Call that the death penalty version of Blackstone’s corollary.

Although, what I suspect that these people really want is for black death row inmates to have infinite appeals and white death row inmates to be put down the next day, because to these people everything is about race.  But that is racist, immoral, and unconstitutional.

So I put it up to them.

If they want time for The Innocence Project to overturn the convictions of wrongfully convicted black men, they have to accept that Roof is going to be alive for another decade or so going through his appeals as well.

Posts like this have been popping up and down the Usual Social Media Platforms: the alleged White Privilege of Dylan Roof over Brandon Bernard because he has not been executed. And the False Narrative that Bernard did not kill anybody.

Dylan Roof was sentenced to die just 3 years or so ago and those with a little knowledge of how executions go, know that it will take at least a decade before any serious trip to the gurney will be taken. Brandon Bernard was found guilty in 2000. And as far the “Killed, 0” remark, I once again post the DOJ’s remarks:

The abductors eventually parked on the Fort Hood military reservation, where Bernard and another accomplice doused the car with lighter fluid as the couple, still locked in the trunk, sang and prayed.  After Stacie said, “Jesus loves you,” and “Jesus, take care of us,” one of the accomplices shot both Todd and Stacie in the head—killing Todd and knocking Stacie unconscious.  Bernard then lit the car on fire, killing Stacie through smoke inhalation.

So when I get a young pneumatic thing, waving a cyber-fist at me and trying to “educated me” with falsehoods on a murder that happened even before she was born, I have to laugh and consider the whole BLM a tragic (but funny) joke that will come back to bite them hard in the ass and other anatomical locations.

And we will get to tell them “I told you so!”

According to the NY Post:

A 52-year-old woman from Queens was driving her 29-year-old daughter in the car when the incident occurred, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

The female driver was stopped a block or so away by a traffic scooter cop after hitting the pedestrians, sources said. Apolloa said cops detained two people who chased after her.

The unidentified driver told cops she was surrounded by protesters marching illegally against traffic and that they started banging on her car, sources said.

I really do not see the problem, the driver was trying to maintain Social Distancing in order to avoid being killed by the Wuhan V Carriers that might be in the crowd. Oh wait, Protestors are always non-carriers of the Kung-Flu virus. My bad.

Legislators in some states have talked about protecting drivers who are attacked by “peaceful protesters” and at least Missouri has already introduced the  Fleeing Motorist Protection Act, which aims to criminally and civilly protect anyone who strikes a protestor with their vehicle during a protest.

It is simple: Stop blocking and hitting cars and you won’t get run over. But that is what happens when you stop teaching science in school and substitute it with Transgender Socialist Macramé for Racial Justice.

Wittes is a Yevsektsiya.  He might claim to be a Jew but he’s a Leftist attacking Rabbis for celebrating a religious holiday with the President, wanting to put their names on a Stalinesqe list.

The observant Jews of New York have been attacked relentlessly since the beginning of COVID.  This president chooses to celebrate with 100 observant Jews the first night of Hanukkah and this is called a super spreader event. Not the Biden celebrations or BLM protests.

North Face turns back on local oil and gas company

Innovex Downhole Solutions says it was recently denied an order of jackets by The North Face, a popular outdoor recreation company because they are in the oil and gas business.

“I was surprised but not surprised if that makes sense,” Innovex CEO Adam Anderson said.

Innovex is based in Houston and has nearly 100 workers in the Permian Basin.

Each year, the company gets a Christmas gift for its employees. This year, it was supposed to be a North Face jacket with an Innovex logo, a company Innovex has ordered gear from in the past.

The company providing the jackets said The North Face doesn’t want to support the oil and gas industry in the same way they’d reject the porn industry or tobacco industry.

“They told us we did not meet their brand standards,” Anderson said. “We were separately informed that what that really meant is was that we were an oil and gas company.”

So oil and gas is just like porn?

Hu?  I was unaware that Porn Engineering was a thing.  My minor was Petroleum Engineering.  I should have switched to porn.

The mind numbing thing about this is that the best selling TNF products are 100% polypropylene and nylon, which are synthetic polymers that come from petroleum distillates.

Maybe the oil and gas industry should reciprocate. Leave them to make winter gear out of vegan hemp.
