Florida Stand Your Ground law to stay.

A 19-member task force commissioned by Gov. Rick Scott to review Florida’s Stand Your Ground law has put out its final report, largely voicing support for the law.

The task force made a handful of recommendations for the Legislature, but began the report by stating that, at its core, the self-defense law is fine as it is.

The timing could not be any better. Poll after poll indicated that a substantial majority of Floridians supported SYG and found all the “scandal” more a PR stunt than an actual failure of the law. Many a crappy prosecutor will be pissed, but they work for us and not the other way around. They don’t get to be Grand Inquisitors and decide by whimsy who has a right to self-defense and who does not.

  1. Florida’s a long ways from Colorado, Texas or Utah for me, I’m not Mormon but they will all stand together for their freedom and I imagine whoever is willing to fight with them.
