“The Government will help you.”

Going through the news, photos and videos coming out of Haiti, you cannot help but realize the folly of relying on the Government for immediate help. I am not saying that Big Evil Government will not help, but it is a huge slow animal that will take a long tome to get going and, in the meantime, you are on your own.

And as the bureaucracies slowly churn into action, the regular folk are left to their own devices. Most folk will actually try to recreate some sort of mini-society, a tribe if you please, but some will just become a pack of predators with murder and mischief in their minds. The power of armed roaming criminals is awesome. Not just because they are armed but the level of violence they can inflict is something we are not accustomed to see as civilized people. It feeds its violence on itself and even the most simple and peaceful of men will do things that are unthinkable, the hardened criminal will reach new heights of cruelty. Mobs are nasty and Desperate Mobs are cancerous and unforgiving. The result is that rescue efforts will be delayed or denied because safety cannot be guaranteed just as it is happening in Haiti where medical teams are being pulled out because it has turned too dangerous for them to do their mercy work.

I have lived through a total breakdown of law and order. I’ve seen neighbors turn to neighbors for support and neighbors turning against neighbors in frenzy. I saw people getting killed in very horrific ways and sadly I understood the phrase “Life is cheap” in a very short time. We escaped the mayhem not because the mob suddenly developed a conscience (news flash: Mob Mentality does not include conscience or morals) but because we were ready to inflict serious deadly force and managed to transmit the message in a clear and concise way to the looters. Our property was left alone while the Mob went looking for softer or more rewarding targets and they did. I saw more people getting killed and homes and businesses being painfully stripped of anything remotely of value like a cow under a piranha attack.

And the biggest shock of all was that the mob was not faceless and anonymous. I saw people I knew for short, medium and long time in it. They became animals just going about their wild business no matter what past history they had with the neighbor they were looting. It didn’t matter to them, the “reward,” the immediate satisfaction and the feeling pf power that a mob gives was too intoxicating for them to think coherently about what they were doing.

I don’t think I slept for three days. Things started to “calm down” not because sanity returned but because there was nothing much left to loot and the mobs moved on. It took the local government 5 days to send a semblance of authority to the area and only then people became individuals again. Some were embarrassed for what they did, some didn’t care and I just couldn’t digest all that happened. I have most of it now but there is this sense of “I can’t believe it happened” still in my brain. The old “Be polite, be professional but have a plan to kill everyone you meet” is relevant as sad as it may be.

The Gut Feeling confirmed.

So the Kid approaches me last night as I was with another co-worker  and with a great amount of urgency asks me when can he take the class so he can get his concealed weapons permit.  As I try to come up with the words to let him down easy, he launches on a tirade about something it happened to him and his child earlier that day.  It seems that while at a park with the Kid and a couple of friends, a particularly big sporting sphere flew by near them and the standard fare of cussing between Group One and Sport Sphere Group was initiated. Somehow and after a couple of minutes of trash talking, the ball was launched back at them and missed the Kid’s head by inches which prompted physical retaliation by one of the Kid’s friends. The next thing coming out of the Kid’s mouth was a description on how he would have fed the ball-tosser Mountain Oysters made out of his own genitalia.

Before he could utter another word, I told the Kid that in my opinion he was not ready to carry a concealed weapon. He was not happy to say the least and asked me what I meant by that. I reminded him of the conversation we had earlier and asked him what was the first thing he needed to shed in order to carry a gun but he could not remember so I refreshed his memory: EGO. I told him again that he could not let his ego dictate his actions and that he demonstrated not enough responsibility during the events. He got angry (another bad sign) and asked me what would have I done different if somebody almost hit my son with a ball. The answer caught him by surprise even though for us is obvious: get the boy and leave the area as fast and as far away as possible. He blinked hard, I guess it never entered in his brain that keeping a child safe might involve something other than blasting some caps on some schmuck. I drove the point home by telling him that what i just heard did not show a concerned parent seeking the safety of his progeny but a hot headed youngster who was dissed, had his ego “damaged” and wanted immediate satisfaction even though it was not the smart thing to do.

The sad part was that the Kid still didn’t get it. I was staring at his eyes and that brief moment of surprise faded quick. No light-bulb-moment-of-clarity illuminated his obtuse head. I think he just thought I was being a scared and ornery old fart who did not want to get in trouble.  And he is right, I am afraid for him, for his kid and for innocent bystanders if this guy ever gets to carry a weapon. More likely, if the Kid gets in a situation, his child may have to visit Daddy at a grave site or at Everglades Correctional Institute or even at Raiford State as Daddy waits for the needle.

Haiti: It has begun.

CBS is reporting that gangs of machete wielding thugs are no roaming the streets looking for food.

Here is a quote:

Fights between gangs were seen on the streets. Machetes were flailing and it was impossible to predict what would happen next.

There was no sign of police or any kind of law and order.

The United nations also reported that looters broke into the UN’s warehouses to steal the food and other supplies they had for the nation. Now there is probably nothing to give to the defenseless because the morons at the UN were probably at the local child whorehouse . And the Red Cross points out that 4,000 criminals held at Haitian Prisons are out and roaming amongst the regular folk.  The British Newspaper The Telegraph on line even reports the sound of gunfire which they believe is people fending off looters in order to keep their belongings.

Many lessons to be learned here. I hope we do.

Never never never never give up.

Just now I had the WordPress write-a-post window open and ready to share with all three of you a funny happenstance last night at work when the phone rang. It was my Comadre from V-Land informing me that my Godson was shot thrice during a carjacking/possible kidnapping. The kid is OK (Kid? he is what? in his late 30s-early 40′s and with kids of his own) and by the grace of God and lousy marksmanship from the Bad Guys, he is back home with grazing shots to one of his nipples (Dude, radical piercing yo!), to the side of his abdomen and a full penetration to the fleshy part of his thigh. Nothing major was hit but he is in some pain… no shit.

According to the story, he was coming out of his girlfriend’s house at 9 pm (first mistake) in a very nasty area of town (mistake number dos) when he was approached by parties unknown who demanded his vehicle. He did what was supposed to do and handed over the keys of his 4×4 plus whatever other personal belongings he had. One of the Bad Guys started to pistol whip him and tried to force him into his 4×4 for a possible Secuestro Express (Express Kidnapping: It denotes kidnapping a person and forcing him or her to withdraw his bank account via ATMS or even maybe calling home and asking for a low to moderate ransom to be delivered within a very short frame of time usually under a day. About 50% of the victims are killed during this crime) Godson was smart enough to put up a serious unarmed fight but got shot in the process. The kid is not big, but he is about 0.07% body fat and willing to use muscle. The fight must have been good that the BGs left without a single good and Godson drove himself to the hospital to get treated.

Even tough the dumb sonofabitch had his head looking for blemishes on his prostate instead of acting smart and safe, he acted decisively when the time came and managed to scare the BGs away and survived the encounter.

No matter how much we scan and stay aware, there is the chance we may get bushwhacked and the only way to survive it is to act fast and with lots of violence. You cannot plan for every situation (ask Bill Hitchcock) but if attacked and the opportunity arises, counter attack with all your fury plus a ton you can borrow from anywhere.

Liberals need a political Level of Violence.

“I’ve come to believe he (Clinton) needs a certain level of violence in this country. He is willing to accept a certain level of killing to further his political agenda.

Wayne LaPierre.

The above quote sent shocks all over the media when it was published. It was called crass, uncaring, a lie, another example of the racism of the NRA, etc, etc, ad nauseum. I mean The Liberals-Progressives are well know for their Peace Marches, singing Kumbaya and raising white baby doves that come with olive branches from the factory. They would never resort to violence!….. except history proves otherwise. From bombing government offices in the 60′s to direct physical attacks against those who dare raise a opposing opinion, the Left will not give a damn about direct action and people getting hurt or killed because it will gather headlines that they will control since the Traditional Media are their political whores.

When a black man appeared in a anti Obama rally with a legal rifle and openly carrying a sidearm, The Media edited out to make it appear as it was a white guy and immediately played the race card and doomed assassination attempts against the President. However, when SEIU goons openly beat the hell out of a black conservative during a Town Hall meeting in St. Louis, not only Media was mum, but even the authorities dragged their feet for months before even making the appearance of investigating. Are you scheduled to give a speech in a college? You will be shut out by the Liberals-Progressives without giving you a chance to say the first word and take off stage by force. The First Amendment only applies to ideas approved by them.

Now what is all of what i just mentioned have to do with the opening quote? I mean, that is “healthy and sometimes a bit spirited protest” (yeah sure) but killing? I must be exaggerating.  Well, you wouldn’t say so if you were facing the following “spirited” protest against Chancellor Robert Birgeneau’s house as reported by the Daily Californian.

Between 40 and 75 people marched to Birgeneau’s home near the northwest corner of campus at about 11 p.m. Friday night. Some wielded torches that were allegedly thrown at police, while others broke the outside lighting to the house, overturned planters, damaged “impact resistant” windows on the house and scattered garbage brought from a nearby student housing cooperative, police said

By the way, The San Francisco Chronicle regards this incident as just plain vandalism even though police arrested two people for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and a slew of other charges. I am sure the two “freedom fighters” are already released with the apologies of the court and the Officers will be properly remanded for sensitivity training.

Going back to my point. There have been no condemnation from the upper echelons of the Liberal/Progressives against this attack.  Some mid level type have poopooed the events but everything else has been low key or ignored by the Big Media. The end result will be that some other bunch of idiots will try the torch thing again and the results may differ.

I am not going to lie here. If I am woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of crashing items through my window, I will arm myself. If when I peek outside I see and hear a mob chanting and sporting torches, the long gun will come out and rest assured the first imbecile that tries to toss one fire stick my way will receive a  ration of ballistic counterpoints. Arson is a crime and if people are inside a dwelling, it is just plain an attempt of murder and thus lethal weapon is permitted legally and morally a mandate. I will shed not a tear nor feel remorse for the fool or fools that tried to burn my family and myself because I happen to have a different political opinion.

But I also know it will be played different in the Media. I will be seen as the crazy inbred redneck gun owner (It doesn’t matter if you are a Chinese Gay hairdresser, if you use a gun to defend yourself, you will miraculous transformed into a retard redneck) that took matters into his hands and instead of calling police, he exacted vigilante justice on a poor misguided soul who now will become a martyr for Hope and Change. In other words, some poor schmuck died but we can use him so Long Live the Revolution.  Horst-Wessel songs/poem/blogs/films will be written/recorded/produced to commemorate his sacrifice and to prove once again that violence is not the solution and that if it wasn’t for my evil gun, the Poor Schmuck would still be alive and sucking resources from law abiding taxpayers.

So yes, they are willing to accept a certain level of killing to further his political agenda… as long as they are not their asses with the red dot painted upon.

Stupid Journalism… but I repeat myself.

Found this little pic in DayLife.com which proudly announces that its mission is “organizing and distributing the world’s news.” Yeah right.

You can click on the pic to read the accompanying caption or just read below.

The body of a young man who was shot dead is examined by doctors at the emergency room of a hospital near the Petare slum in Caracas November 14, 2009. Gun laws are lax in Venezuela, where the government estimates there are 6 million firearms circulating among the population of about 28 million. Venezuela’s murder rate is about 8 times that of the United States.

First, to say that the gun laws in Venezuela are lax is akin to say that Mayor Bloomberg and Dianne Feinstein  are Pro-Gun and members of the NRA. To legally buy a gun in Venezuela you must be really connected to the Government and have a crapload  of money or have a level of patience that would send Job to the Loony House… and still be ready to shell some serious bucks. I am not up to date on gun prizes nowadays but the yardstick years ago was US retail price plus $700 to $1,000 extra for any gun at any of the v ery few, very controlled gun stores. You must submit a long form, background and psychological checks, fingerprints, photos and a letter stating why you want a firearm. Now, the permit to own is only issued to an specific gun so you must buy a gun first but can’t take it with you until the paperwork gets approved (if) and even then the gun does not belong to you but it is sort of leased and subject to recall by the Government at any time. Basically you go through the expense and aggravation to buy a gun for the State.  I almost forgot, the choice of guns is very limited to .32 ACP, 38 Special and maybe a double barrel shotgun. 9mm, .45 ACP and other calibers and long guns are Military Weapons forbidden to civilians. Forget about anything full auto.

Second, I am not sure how any “journalist” can actually believe anything coming out of the Venezuelan Government, but Reuters plays along for whatever lazy or sick reason they have. I doubt much that there are 6 million guns in the hands of the rank and file Venezuelan but I do know that the number one provider of firearms to crooks is the own Chavez Government. Chavez has a full fledged campaign against any local law enforcement agency that is somewhat efficient in the prosecution of crime. He has a judge come up with a judicial intervention order and he sends his military goons to take over the stations were the first things to be grabbed are: The guns.  That those guns later appear in the hands of crooks is yet to be explained by the Venezuelan Government.

The next two pictures are from the Tupamaros, a very Pro-Chavez group that has applied violence liberally against those who dare oppose the revolution. Do notice the equipment:

Uzis, MP-5s, pump shotguns, FN-FALs, grenades, military radios… yep, you can by those at any local supermarket.  These goons literally control vast neighborhoods at gunpoint and the police are pretty much useless and unarmed to compete. There might be 6 million guns out there, but they are all in the wrong hands.

Murder rate in Caracas, the capital city is 108 per 100,000. 98% of all murders go unsolved. People consider that the lack of security is the number one problem affecting the country. The fear of dying at the hands of these animals is so great they are willing to do whatever is necessary including giving up any vestigial remains of Rights they may have left. Gun Control does work but only in favor of those lusting for absolute power.

Compliance is futile?

We’ve been told by the experts that the best course of action when robbed at gun point is to be submissive and comply with the criminal’s wishes and that we would be spared from harm. Somehow the Bad Guys seem not have received that memo. Down here in South Florida, we recently had a rash of armed robberies targeting gold-bearing victims and the victims were shot even though they were compliant with the criminal’s threats.

“I mean, if you’ve already got the chain, why do you have to go and shoot somebody, somebody who’s got a baby in their hands?” said Cathy Garcia, the victim’s mother-in-law.

So, even though the victims complied and got bullets holes for their compliance.  The Bad Guy chooses the weakest moment possible both physically and mentally: while the victims are handling their kids. Experts will be quick to point out that we should not do anything harsh because the kids are present and we really don’t want them to get hurt, but the criminal(s) shot anyway! Compliance did only not work, but put the kids at risk!

And as ususal, a picture is worth a thousand words:
