If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or
If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—
They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
Watching this video reminds me why I would make either a fantastic or terrible President.
I would add a wing to the DOJ that existed for one reason only, to use 18 USC § 241 as fucking Mjolnir to pound the shit out of state and local governments that abuse fines and asset forfeiture under the 4th and 8th Amendments.
Also use the terrible ammo law in California to bust them for conspiracy against the 2nd Amendment.
Pretty much I’d be looking to fill Federal prisons with abusive low level politicians and bureaucrats for the sheer pleasure of watching petulant City Commissioners do hard time for being an obnoxious assholes with ordinances.
I’d be siccing the FBI on the Portland Antifa, too, for the whole “two or more persons go in disguise on the highway … with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured” thing.
PDX cops might be muzzled by the mayor, but we’ll see how long the masked thugs are willing to keep acting up after the first few are picked up by armed FBI HRT teams (those guys don’t mess around!) and get tossed in a federal prison for a decade or so.
Then I’d go after that mayor under 18 U.S.C. 242 Deprivation of rights under color of law, for failing to protect and uphold the rights of every non-Antifa citizen in the city. Individual charges for each person (all 3.9 million of them), sentences to be served consecutively.

Portland is a prime example of individual police officers choosing their own careers over the rights of the people. Andy Ngo has been assaulted multiple times, often in front of police officers who just stood there. There is even video of one incident where Ngo asks the nearby officers for help and they just stare blankly. Why should they endanger there jobs, pensions, and kid’s college funds over some asian kid?

Yes, but the mayor and police chief most of all, they are the ones in charge giving the orders. Those going along with the illegal orders are criminals as well, but the primary blame and the primary penalties need to go to the big bosses who started this evil.

What pkoning said. The cops are complicit, certainly (the Nuremberg trials established that “just following orders” is not a viable defense), but if you want change you must go after the order-givers, not just the order-followers.
Many if not most of the cops in Portland see Antifa in a similar light we do: a domestic terrorist group. They don’t act because if they do, they’ll be fired and Mayor Ted Wheeler and appropriately-named police chief Danielle Outlaw (no, seriously…) will replace them with someone politically-aligned with the administration. Then there won’t be anyone in authority to side with the (disarmed by city ordinance) citizens.
I don’t go near Portland without a full-size, double-stack firearm. And a reload or two. Crap like this — along with an almost San-Francisco-esque level of homelessness, open drug use, and human feces — is why.

Probably in agreement about the cops being involved in the conspiracy. Whether they’re happy about it or not, they’re still willing participants. I’d argue that that means there’s already no one in authority to side with the citizens, because no one in authority is siding with the citizens.
I am constantly amazed by the folks who think cops will ever give up their own careers for the rights of a random citizen. It literally never happens, even when we have known cases like this.
