I saw Miguel’s two posts on the NRA-AM and the banning of weapons during VP Mike Pence’s speech.
Of course the Parkland anti-gun crowd will accuse of hypocrisy because they don’t understand our position, and they don’t want to. They (I know because I heard this on Friday night) think that we “want everyone to have machine guns everywhere.”
Never mind that I’ve never actually heard the NRA say they want children to be able to buy Uzis, that’s what they say we say to they can atrack the Strawman NRA for being unreasonable.

The challenge to us is to point out that there is no hypocrisy.
The NRA has always, first and foremost, been about obeying the law. We work to change the law in our favor, but above all, we are strongest as law abiding gun owners.
As long as the law says you can’t carry a gun near the POTUS or VP, we will obey it.
That’s not hypocrisy, that is obeying with a law even if we don’t agree with it.
Not following laws we don’t like is for Progressive Democrats in sanctuary cities.
Hypocrisy is being an aide to and anti-gun politician and getting busted with a gun with an obliterated serial number.
Parkland kids should really be good at identifying hypocrisy, since that is thier modus operandi.
Hypocrisy is complaining on the news how politicians don’t listen to you after personally insulting them and hanging up on the White House when they call.
Hypocrisy is whining about being the victim of bullying after becoming famous for calling NRA members terrorists, saying Republican politicians have blood on thier hands, and organizing boycotts against the supporters of people you disagree with.
Make them say it out loud: “the NRA are hypocrites for saying law abiding gun owners should obey the law.” Make them argue against that position.
Today my social media feeds have seen a bumper crop of people reacting at the headlines. From demanding that POTUS or the VP order the Secret Service to drop the No Guns restriction to some even saying that Trump and/or Pence shouldn’t be attending because the Secret Service Requirement. I have a response for that:
Stop it. You are trying to fix shit because we got a crappy headline from a group of people who will die first than give us a good headline. OK, allow me to correct that last part: from a group of people who will rather see us die first than give us a good headline.
Will the Secret Service reverse its requirements? No. So why bother? Now, imagine for a second that somehow the NRA “stands firm” and demands that people can carry around POTUS and VP.

Those attending the NRA Leadership Conference in Dallas are on notice that no firearms or “weapons of any kind,” or ammunition, will be allowed in the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center “prior to and during” Pence’s appearance on May 4. The NRA posted the restrictions ― a requirement of the Secret Service ― on a website announcing the conference.
See that? “a requirement of the Secret Service” So she knows it is not the NRA “banning” anything but a Secret Service mandate. But as expected from a good “journalist” she has no problem lying to make apolitical point across. VP pence will be present for 3 hours and that will be the amount of time the restrictions will be up and I am going to guess only where the Leadership Conference will be held, not the whole huge arena.
And then they had the cojones to ask why people hate them.
PS: And if the Parkland Survivors’ jaws “dropped” must have been from all the Tide Pod chewing. That crap cannot be gentle to the maxillofacial structure.
