One of the ways the Opposition does its bidding is to create a false narrative (Yes, they lie) about a proposed piece of legislation making it look like it is the end of the world as they know it, but they almost never provide a link to the actual text of the legislation. They do this in the correct belief that most people will take their word for it and that will not take their time actually reading the bill in question.

I have made it a point (when I darn remember) of including the text any gun bill in a post for my readers to examine.   We are a smart bunch and we can interpret what we read without making too many mistakes. It also allows other to double-check what we say and make sure we are not interpreting something the wrong way. Lord know I have been corrected before and it has been all for our betterment.

Although more specifically to those Gun Bloggers that deal mostly in Gun Rights but I also think any gun blogger, even if they only deal with exotic guns of the Renaissance and do not like to delve into politics,  can either link to their local legislatures or to a Gun Rights Blogger of his/her state who is keeping an eye on the bills, specially when this year gun control groups are targeting more bad laws at state level forsaking the Federal laws.

Plus, it is a true enjoyment to see how gun control cultists get all twisted and shut up when you get to confront them with the facts. Apparently they seem to have a genetic allergy to that particular virus.

Remember, we are not in the fight to convince the raving Anti Gunner, but to get those who are not decided yet or may have a weak inclination on either side to vote our way.  Truth and facts are our best weapons.

  1. People tend to live on headlines only and not actually read the articel, or the bill. We all know that headlines created by the MSM tend to be just a weeeeeeee bit misleading.

    1. By jolly! You exaggerate Ron.
Seriously, you have no idea how many times I wanna title a post “Another load of Bullshit from….” referring to a MSM article
It is truthful but not quite what my Mom taught me to say in polite company 🙂

  2. We can play the same headline game, but with facts! Even if people never read the legislation, its there for them if they want, not hidden away. Its like a bibliography- very few people read the references, but they’re there if need be.

    1. I agree. In addition to linking to actual legislation – showing folks what the facts actually are – we MUST play the headline game too.

As an example … let’s say a proposed law that regulates firearms carry would remove an existing restriction on carrying a firearm in a church.

      A typical headline will say:
“Proposed state law will allow guns in church”

But a more honest headline could say:
“Proposed state law would remove prohibition of armed self-defense in church”

Another example (a common one) regards accidental shootings. As gun owners, we know that guns don’t simply “go off” on their own – the vast majority of the time, if there is an accidental gunshot, someone screwed up. But a reporter who suggests the gun “went off” is implanting the idea that the gun is to blame, not the person.

      So instead of:
“Neighbor’s gun goes off, man injured”

      It could say:
“Neighbor negligently discharges gun, man injured”

It’s not a matter of presenting the facts and the stories accurately, regardless of what people have been conditioned to believe (e.g. that government “grants” rights, and that guns “go off” on their own).

  3. “Remember, we are not in the fight to convince the raving Anti Gunner, but to get those who are not decided yet or may have a weak inclination on either side to vote our way.”

How many of those people do you think read either gun blogs or anti-gun blogs?

    1. Depends on your product placement. If somebody is to Gooogle Gun Free Zone…

But you bring a point I’ve been thinking about writing for a while. I guess I best get to it.
