  1. “Cleaner” and “Better” and not two things I associate with you! 🙂

In all seriousness, I like the new lines of it, but I miss the big pile of bullets banner. Can you fit some copper somewhere at the top?

    1. LOL… Weer you arse.

The banner is a temp. The old one was just too wide. I’ll keep twerking..er..tweaking it as I am not 100% satisfied just yet.
Heck, I started it 2 hours ago!

  2. Weer’d Beard is right. This new layout looks like every other blog…. and you ain’t like any other blogster. Inject some Miguel into this bad boy !

  3. It doesn’t look bad, but it does seem, ‘unfinished’. Perhaps it’s the stark white background with the black border to the left. Meh, either way, this will continue to be one of the first places I stop by when I access the interwebs. 🙂

I will admit that I already miss the bullets to brass to cartridges you had alternating at the top of the old format.

  4. I’ve always appreciated websites that display white on black. It may not look like dead tree, but it beats staring into a light bulb.

  5. I agree, it looks unfinished, like it needs a border on the right* David Codrea has dark brown print on a light tan background; try a color scheme like that, maybe* And where’s the blogroll

  6. Unfortunately, I have to give it a thumbs’-down. I’m not sure why, but all the text is appearing messed-up in my browser, as though my resolution setting was off. It’s also harder on the eyes; the old white-on-black didn’t make me feel like I was five minutes away from a headache (the black on white isn’t bad, but the effect of the side and top bars contrasting with this big white open space makes my eyes hurt).

  7. Interesting. I’m gonna have to side with both KFG and Crotalus. Kinda blindingly white (maybe a light grey background to cut down on glare?), and the fact that there’s nothing on the right side just makes it seem like the words are going to slide off the screen at any moment. Needs a right-sidebar to keep everything nice and symmetrical.

Then again, I don’t come here for the aesthetics. I come for the content.

    1. Ok… I am gonna play with the backgrounds and some of the font colors. May end up looking like the Tijuana whorehouse Weer was talking about the other day 😉

      1. Uh huh…. Would like to hear your explanation to SHMBO on just how you know what a Tijuana whorehouse looks like.

  8. The layout is messed up. The posts are at the top of the page with all other contents at the bottom. I’m using firefox 26.0

  9. I’m gonna side with some of the earlier comments. It needs something on the right to look more symmetrical, and it wouldn’t hurt to fiddle with the background colors and find something with enough contrast for the visually-challenged to read, but less than flat black on bright white. (I liked the light text on the dark background, but hey, it’s your house.)

Besides, you can’t see the snow on the bright white. 😉

There are tons of web palette generators on the Intertubez. A simple one I’ve used: http://www.colorsontheweb.com/colorwizard.asp

The “randomize” button gives you a random base color, and the other options give you colors on the same “theme” but different hues/shades. Play away!

  10. FYI — Running IE9. When the window is full screen, the left column is (black background with white text) on the left. If the window is less than about 8″ wide to full screen, everything in the left column ends up on the bottom of the blog. Ditto when posting this comment. The left column is all at the bottom and centered (black background with white text).

I usually do not mind sans serif text, but this font just does not look “right.”

  11. It is missing a right side border, which makes reading the content weird. I also agree that the pure white background is less than perfect. Fix those two things for maximum usefulness (bonus points for making the boarders a constant width and scaling the content to fit the screen resolution, instead of vice versa for most other blogs. Extra extra bonus points for removing/scaling the borders for extra small resolutions, like a mobile phone browser advertising itself as a desktop browser).

As to the art and styling, meh. As long as my eyes don’t bleed its all good with me. I come here for the content, not the looks.

  12. A little fresh paint, a few seasonal throw pillows, sharpen up the bear trap and buy another can of Naval Jelly to make it sparkle; yep, good job

  13. OK, managed to get rid of the ugly white right sidebar. I have to figure how to widen and center the post itself as it is so left, it will vote for Hillary next elections
