And the film pretty much predicts “the future” as Californistan looks like that a lot, except for the part that is BLACKED OUT cuz the bankrupt electric company doesn’t want any more lawsuits for starting fires because the state wouldn’t let them trim brush. Maybe the robot part explains a lot about the “voters”, illegal or not.
Thus the danger of using specific dates in Science Fiction. In “2001 A Space Odyssey” we had moon bases, and sent a nuclear powered spacecraft with an AI computer to Jupiter. Not so much in real life.
