I also think that anybody engaged in the practice of “Open Carry in YOUR FACE!!!” (henceforth “OCIYF!”) is behaving like a jackass……Another rationale offered by the “OCIYF!” crew is that they are merely strengthening their Second Amendment rights through the exercise of those rights. Indeed, they’ll be happy to imply that it’s not they who are the problem, but rather that the problem lies with those of us who don’t engage in “OCIYF!” who “hide” our Second Amendment rights—after all, if we don’t use our gun rights, we’ll lose our gun rights.

Here’s some breaking news for you “OCIYF!” people:

YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT TO CARRY A FIREARM INTO A PRIVATELY OWNED BUSINESS.

None. Zero. Zilch. Zip.

The Second Amendment forbids the Federal government—and since McDonald also the individual state governments—from infringing on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Key word: government.

The Second Amendment does nothing whatever to constrain the rights of private property owners to determine for themselves whether to allow the carry of guns—concealed or open—on their property

  1. With all due respect, the only reason why Branca and his supporters are distancing themselves from our friends in Texas is because they made us look bad. Where was Branca and his pals during the Starbucks rally? Wasn’t that the exact same thing without the Moms?

I will never knuckle under to Moms. I will never kowtow to those who say we don’t belong. Anywhere.

Shame on the cowards who talk so loud but when it comes down to tough times, they retreat and take cover. When times get tough, we all find out who the posers really are.

    1. There’s ‘talking tough’ and then there’s repeated stupidity. This is the third time (at least) that this strategy has backfired, giving Bloomwatts a PR victory.

The Starbucks thing was going fine till posers started posing, encouraging the SB execs to reverse course. The same w/ Chipolte.

    2. For sake of the argument, I consider myself friend of Mr. Branca although I have not had the pleasure of meeting him.

the only reason why Branca and his supporters are distancing themselves from our friends in Texas is because they made us look bad

Although that on itself is enough, I need to add that is not only the “look” but the providing the Opposition with graphic images they can use to screw us over. In case you have not heard, we have not won yet.

Where was Branca and his pals during the Starbucks rally? Wasn’t that the exact same thing without the Moms?

I see you are well versed in what occurred in Starbucks….as in Moms demand were also one of the driving forces. If you care to peruse this blog, you will see that we were much in favor of Open Carry/ Concealed Carry at any Starbucks and you may even find a pic of my Carry In Starbucks Day which coincided with Moms Demand Skip Starbucks day.
But the same thing happened, idiots with rifles (not carrying but brandishing) started to pose inside Starbucks and we got the first black eye in the media. Now we are two for two.. way to go.

I will never knuckle under to Moms.

      Good for you.

I will never kowtow to those who say we don’t belong.

Ok, get something straight: you wanna fuck up Gun Rights? Go against property rights and see what happens. Andrew is correct on that statement:
YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT TO CARRY A FIREARM INTO A PRIVATELY OWNED BUSINESS.

Shame on the cowards who talk so loud but when it comes down to tough times, they retreat and take cover. When times get tough, we all find out who the posers really are.

When these two dumbasses were uncombined genetic material in the bodies of their parents, I was living in a no-shit-100% Gun Free Country. By the time they were trying to figure out how to operate crayons, I was here calling & pestering my congresscritters, writing to the Miami Herald and preaching to anybody who came into my vocal range about Gun Rights. So, if the fact that I don’t give to loads of horse manure about the feelings of recently-arrived-to-gun-rights jackasses because they thought it might be “cool” to show off how ‘tuff’ they are by screwing around with long guns and risking what others have been fighting for over 40 years, please accept my no-apologies and feel free to click on the link at the right of the page where it says “Complains.”

    3. Open carry in your face is the wet dream of the anti-gun crowd. For years they have tried to “rewrite” the meaning and intent of the 2nd amendment. In this endeavor they have failed over and over as the intent is crystal clear to ANYONE once they actually look beyond talking points.
Now it is clear to them they are going to have to evicerate the 2nd in the courtroom. Changing something in the BORe is hard, thankfully, but not impossible. The main thing one needs to accomplish said changes is to win over public opinion. Only a large EMOTIONAL majority will make it possible. Our pals in the open carry groups are now the most effective TOOLS to that end.
Wake up,your immature hyjenks have helped the antis more than decades of political gyrations with all the propagandist help 90 percent of the media pushes down the public’s throat.

  2. Miguel, while you are absolutely right that the 2nd applies to government entities, not private businesses, I do have one simple rebutal: Signs saying “No Blacks/Colored/Irish/Gays/Whatever.”

Businesses -should- have the right to be bigots. They -should- have the right to put up and enforce whatever strictures their clientele is willing to put up with. Whether refusing entry to a skin color or ancestry, demanding everyone strip naked, or declaring the only head coverings in an establishment are clay flowerpots with daffodils in them, a business/property owner -should- have a say in who enters his or her property or business.

It doesn’t work that way at all in the real world.

So while you ARE absolutely correct that a bunch of idiots can turn public tide against us, remember too that a bunch of people who refused to sit down, shut up, and get to the back of the bus helped take down the “No Coloreds” signs.

I don’t think this idiots WILL turn the public tide. All they’re doing is showing they’re idiots, and getting a bunch of companies to -ASK- that they “stop doing this.”

From what I saw, Chipotle’s did not put signage up. They made a request, not a demand.
    Starbuck’s made a request, not a demand.
It’s still perfectly legal to carry into either establishment.
They just asked people to stop being idiots.

If this is the best “win” that Parents Without Purpose can secure, then they’re even more pathetic than they realize.

    1. Why should we give them any “wins”? As for segregation that
wasn’t optional for a business. It was the law.

    2. “No Blacks/Colored/Irish/Gays/Whatever.”

No shoes, No Shirt, No Service.

remember too that a bunch of people who refused to sit down, shut up, and get to the back of the bus helped take down the “No Coloreds” signs

My imagination cannot stretch so far as to compare Fat Slob and Reefer Boy to Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson.

I don’t think this idiots WILL turn the public tide. All they’re doing is showing they’re idiots, and getting a bunch of companies to -ASK- that they “stop doing this.”

We are fighting a war of attrition while our opponents are in full blitzkrieg mode. Every mistake our side makes, gets amplified 1,000 times while theirs gets ignored unless we do Death by Thousand Paper Cuts in secondary ways. We cannot afford recurring stupidity.

From what I saw, Chipotle’s did not put signage up. They made a request, not a demand.

That is what you saw and most of us saw, not what was advertised by the media. It is a question of perception. The media is in the NEWS business, not in the TRUTH business. It sells more (according to them) to make this fuss about two guys fitting the Gun Control profile of what irresponsible gun nuts look like made Chiplote decide that no weapons are allowed in their restaurant.

Anybody that thinks we are in a fair fight is an idiot. At the same time our side cannot lie or make mistakes as they are daggers in our jugular. So we have to fight 10 times as harder and if that means we restrain from enjoying 100% of our rights till we secure them for good, so be it. If you cannot abide by this, at least have the courtesy to stand aside and do nothing. We’ll keep taking it from here.

  3. Don’t display your guns in a certain way. Make sure you don’t offend. Let’s restrain ourselves.

Hey, you wanna talk about “gun control?” There’s your gun control.

Damn. When you start acting like the enemy, you’re in trouble.

Maybe you should send Moms a “sorry” note, Miguel.

    1. Ah! Another Second Amendment Warrior! Please go ahead and tell us the many and magnificent contributions you have done to the cause. How have you advanced the cause of OC in Florida? When was the last time you OC’d?
Please do enlighten us with your wisdom.

  4. Stan… so you’re looking at the photo of Dumb and Dumber and thinking “yeah, THAT’s the guys I’m wanting to represent me!”, is that right?

Lemme guess, you are also a fellow fancier of crappy guns, gangsta wannabe fashon, and being the rear end of a horse in public.

  5. It sounds like some of my fellow gun activists are more caught up in clothing and appearance than they are the movement.

Thanks, guys. Stay inside. Write your blogs. Troll Moms and raise hell on Twitter.

We’ll do the heavy lifting for you.

    1. I keep seeing these people coming in here to comment about how bad are we, but I don’t read anything they have done for the cause.

Well Jesse… you too can enlighten us with tales of daring fight for the Second Amendment. Share with the rest of us what have you done?

    2. “Heavy lifting”? You are like the wannabe gunsmiths who dremmel valuble guns into useless hunks of metal. The clueless car owner who turns what could be a 1 hour job into a 3 day marathon. The idiot who tries to rewire his house, but burns it down instead. The crew that spends a week of hard labor to tear down the wrong house.

In other words: “YOUR “HARD WORK” IS NOT HELPING!! STOP. HELPING!!”

  6. Clue by four, tough guys —

There is a WORLD of difference between an OC rally on public (or private but friendly to your cause) property, with unloaded rifles slung, and standing around in a neutral private business holding your apparently LOADED rifle AT THE READY.

Threepersaurus is a bad enough spokesman — the grinning twit holding his SKS in a way that indicates HE’S GETTING READY TO FIRE is a friggin’ THREAT.

And, predicatbly, our enemies managed to turn this armound and use it to make OC of ANY gun by ANY non-law enforcement type look scary to the public. That’s a defeat, because the battle is in the minds and perceptions of teh voters and the legislators, NOT whether Chipotle actually put up 30-06 compliant signs afterwards or not.

  7. Keep in mind, as Branca states in his article, and I have stated in numerous places around teh interwebz — the way the kid with teh Tapco addiction was asking, _I’d_ have tagged him as a *likely* threat (not merely “possible”), and if I could not get myself and my loved ones out, would manuever to be ready to drop him and his buddy instantly if they turned out nuts.

And I’ve been shooting since 1980, shooting handguns since 1982, started carrying automatic weapons and hevaier ordnance since 1987, started TEACHING others how to use pretty much every weapon in the 11B inventory since 1990, wearing a pistol OC on my own time since 1991, and wearing a pistol concealed on my own time since 1995. I’m fairly stridently pro-gun, and believe you should be able to buy a Glock 18 “cash and carry”, and carry it open or concealed without any government paperwork involved.

And these idiots would have flagged THEMSELVES as likely targets to be eliminated by me. What do you think their _behavior_ does to influence the opinions of Suzie Soccermom?

    1. Welcome to the avalanche. You know? What really pisses me of is that other states had no issues because they were smart and went about it the right way. No huffing and puffing macho “It is my right and fuck you” tantrums. But some in Texas apparently decided that they were gonna try & do it differently, it failed, did it again, it failed and now that everybody is pissed and shit is flying back on their faces, they come up with the guidelines that should have been issued before going out the first time around.

  8. 45 states allow the open carry of properly holstered handguns; 30 of these states allow open carry without any permit. So should Texas! Learn more at OpenCarry.org.
