Via WTAP in Ohio As of June 13th, 2022 Ohio recognizes the Constitution and will no longer throw people in jail for failing to have government permission to exercise their right of self-defense.
Ohio Constitution Article I, Section 4, states: The people have the right to bear arms for their defense and security; but standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty, and shall not be kept up; and the military shall be in strict subordination to the civil power.
Until today, the people of Ohio were required to get permission slips from the state in order to exercise their rights. With the passage of SB215 this is no longer the case.
It is also the case that people that are carrying are no longer required to inform the police that they are carrying if involved in a traffic stop.
It’s great to see that TV website article call the law by its proper name, “Constitutional Carry”.
The duty to inform nonsense was used so maliciously. Cop didn’t like your attitude and wanted to jam you up? Failure to notify “promptly” step out of the car and put your hands behind your back for officer safety.
It took work but BFA and its many voluteers and advocates got this done along with our reps.
There was a shooting at a mall here yesturday and I have a couple coworkers wanting me to take them to the range.
This is the same reason the I don’t like states that only allow ccw or only allow open carry.
A cop with an attitude can always jam you up claiming the ccw was showing out the open was concealed.
I’ve had a cop tell me that my jacket covering the top of the SAA BP wallet I reproduction in a cowboy holster read concealed. The question of “then how did you spot it?” Didn’t help me.
I was testing a new jacket with under arm zip open openings. The muzzle of my shoulder rig poked out. In a CCW only state that is open carry.
I know people that were jammed up because the cop ran them and saw the were CCW holders. Then claimed they were printing which meant open carrying.
Waiting for the inevitable gunfights in the street. I will not be holding my breath, of course.
