Saw this in another Wally World yesterday.  You can tell you are in the South because they ask you nicely.

I guess being Winter and all makes for the lack of people OC’ing. It is a huge relief not having to be constantly worried about accidentally displaying your weapon and it is even nice to try on upper body garments without having to hide in a change room.

And still, I won’t make OC my EDC system.

  1. That’s reasonable, I support open carry on principle but believe not advertising is smarter in most situations.

  2. In teh warmer weather, I OC here in NH. So far, no issues.

To be honest, I forgot that Wally World and CVS have requested no OC. Oh well.

  3. Sort of off topic, I was in the Wally World parking lot the other day and connected to their wifi. Seems that GFZ is a no good site for them. About 50% of my standard blog sites were restricted.

    1. They’ve switched over to new filtering hardware, but it does allow a VPN connection.

Popped up my NordVPN, kept browsing..

      1. TOR is your friend. I first learned of it when my company started filtering all sorts of “objectionable” sites, GFZ included. No Problemo.

  4. Such a posting has no weight under Texas law. If the sign does not meet statutory requirements under Texas Penal Code Section 30.07 – specific text, letter size, in English and Spanish, visibility, and so forth, it is unenforceable. On the other hand all a representative of the business has to do is tell you open carry is not allowed and you must leave.

  5. At a WalWorld here in TX, it has a sign “Do not carry weapons into the business.” As I watched, a guy walked in with a large ax (tree-felling size) sticking out of his rucksack, no guard on the blade. My buddy and I decided that we didn’t need what we’d been sent for that badly, and went to a different emporium.

    1. Homeless people with bladed weapons visible (usually sticking out of their omnipresent bags/backpacks that definitely won’t be used to hide shoplifted items, but sometimes on the belt or in a pocket instead)? You must live in Democrat run city (trust me, I know the signs).

  6. A personal opinion for those who do OC.
Fer all that’s holy, please carry something decent in a decent holster.
Having your Taurus flop about in a cheap nylon sausage sack isn’t doing us any favors.
Either go pro (Glock/ CZ/ Sig in a Safariland, with a good belt), or go classic (1911 or N Framed Smith in nice leather). Try to look like someone who can actually put bullets where they intend to put them, not the Derplord that patterns minute of trash can lid on a novelty Zombie target at 7 yards.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
