This is the month where Black movies produced by politicians and rejects from the Dollar Store management program flood the market. I just even saw the preview of a race-based remake of Cheaper by the Dozen, so I am going to share my choice for this month so you can checkmark the “I did my part for Racial Justice!” box.

Besides the fantastic film “In the Heat of the Night” with Sydney Poitier and Rod Steiger (which should be in your library anyway), I would recommend to you “A Soldier’s Story.”

Besides the top-notch script, acting, directing, etc. the music is amazing which is to be expected with Herbie Hancock and Edward Bland are in charge and Ms. Patty LaBelle sings us a song.

Now we love action films, and nobody can do Black Action like Wesley Snipes. But rather than Blade or Passenger 57, I have the guilty pleasure to ask you to consider Drop Zone.

OK, Checkbox marker. We return to our regular programming.

Spread the love

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. A couple come to mind. “Hidden Figures”. “Men of Honor”.
For something entirely different there is “Blazing Saddles”.

  2. “Red Tails” (2012) is a deeply flawed movie – most obviously because it just sort of feels half finished, like a rough cut where certain pivotal scenes had yet to be filmed. But the half we got is pretty fun. Not a great film, not even necessarily a good one, but it is a fun one.

  3. I suggest “The Equalizer”. It gets bit preposterous at times, but Denzell plays is soooo cool.

ITHOTN is a classic. For Portier fans, I also recommend “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”.

I concur with pkoning on “Hidden Figures”, although Costner can be Costner-ish. 😉

  4. A Soldier’s Story was really great.
Harlem Nights and Bingo Long’s Traveling Motorcade And All Stars are excellent too.
Just watched Mississippi Burning and every liberal to day should watch hat so they know what real racism is. Calling Stacy Abrams a fat ugly lying loser hypocrite is NOT racist.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
