Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. Am I the only one who remembers the “eyewitness” to the OJ standoff who was giving the blow-by-blow account, with the news anchors nodding gravely, and finished his account with “Ba-ba-booey!”?
I never pay attention to any “breaking story” until at least 24 hours later, and, lately, I’m stretching it out to 48 or 72. Between the confused chaos at the scene and the spin doctors in the studio, you’d have to be pretty naive to take first reports as gospel.
(And if it doesn’t fit the cookie-cutter narrative, you’ll never hear about it. What have you heard about the shooting in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans last week?)

  2. You neglected to add, “unless you’re a gungrabber,” in which case you already know everything you need to know and can go straight to decrying “gun violence” and demanding the destruction of the demonic NRA.

  3. I confess I LOL’d when I heard SCOAMF repeated his “this doesn’t happen in other countries” line and the French press called him an @$$hole.

  4. This is how I *now* imagine every hospital press conference:

Reporter: In light of yesterday’s tragic shooting event…the people innocently attending their workplace event, celebrating the winter solstice or otherwise politically acceptable minority or pagan date of respect, after the victims were transported to the hospital for what has been reported–and we’re seeking confirmation on this–as injuries from American-made high-speed, micro-compact hyper-assault automatic weapons, how would you describe their wounds?

    Spokesperson: Ah, gun shot wounds.
