A man arrested following Saturday’s South Carolina mall shooting in which nine people were wounded had opened fire in self-defense in a confrontation with other shooters, his lawyer said Sunday.

The man, identified as 22-year-old Jewayne Price, has been released under house arrest and ordered to wear an ankle monitor after a judge set a $25,000 surety bond.

Police booked Price on suspicion of unlawful possession of a pistol after questioning him, the Columbia Police Department said. While police have not formally alleged he was a shooter Saturday, he was barred by Bond Court at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Sunday from contacting victims of the attack, Columbia police said on Twitter.

Let’s face it: if it was one of us, we would have been already buried in a dungeon “pending investigation” and our names given top billing in every newscast and printed edition. The incident will be added to the push for Gun Control elimination” without the appropriate details.

In the meantime, the old advice from yours truly remains valid: Stay the hell away from malls

  1. My news feed has been full of shooting reports for the last week. All of them “mass shootings”. Common aspects of them have been lack of details on the shooter, lack of details on the victims. Lack of deaths. Lots injured, few deaths.

When the hold up the victim, it is almost always a younger child who was hit by a stray bullet.

If you dig just below the surface they all seem to be gang or criminal related (“drug deal gone wrong”). The shooter and victims are almost all black.

It is almost as if they want to pump up the emotional levels after Biden set the ATF on home built firearms

  2. That mall is almost literally in my back yard. It hasn’t been a bad place until recently. For some reason, ‘youth’ seems to want to congregate in the food court. The rest of the mall is usually unaffected by their presence. I still only go there when absolutely necessary.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
