The nine innocent Americans murdered in Charleston were exercising their fundamental freedom to worship in a manner of their own choosing. Because they chose to pray without weapons does not mean they were “waiting for it.” It means that they were trying to live their lives as the Constitution envisions — in “domestic tranquility.”

Was the reply tacky? Probably a wee bit too early and strong.
Was he blaming ALL THE VICTIMS? Certainly not.
Was he blaming State Senator Clementa Pinckney? Most assuredly.
Was Senator Pinckney responsible for the shooting? Of this particular attack, No. In general? That is a different story.
Why does Josh Hortwitz have to? Because he can get away with it.
I am going to go as far as saying that I would not be surprised if it were to come out that the Emanuel A.M.E. Church had armed security in a regular basis but probably only used for big services. Many churches do and they choose not to inform their parishioners because they know some will object at the idea of having armed people in a Church because they believe in that magical force field of Sanctuary. Yes, even your church.

At my church it’s well-understood — though hardly ever acknowledged out loud — that approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the men (and some of the women) are carrying at any given time. Heck, a few of our parishioners teach the CCW course! It’s the worst-kept secret ever!
But that’s what you get when a conservative, pro-life and pro-liberty, American congregation actually values its freedoms; when the “salt of the earth” acts accordingly. 🙂
My wife’s church is the same. Hell, the pastor usually has a couple of sermons a year about the flock should get CWP.

I am reminded of a certain high profile, anti-gun priest in one of our major, high-crime cities showing up at a relatives funeral flanked by his armed bodyguards. It was explained to me that he “needed” them because he had made a lot of enemies. Unfortunately the “Cone of Protection” was only for him.
The priest with the last name that sounds like a brand of Swedish appliances? 😀

No wonder it is so anti-gun.
The only time holy ground sanctuary worked for preventing violence was in the movie “Highlander”.
The adherents of islam do not recognize the sanctity of human life or respect God so do not expect them to respect a church. Go armed and be wise to avoid their commanded satanic bloodshed. God does expect us to live in this broken world and that means that we have to take certain precautions.
