Following up on J. Kb.’s post

Dear Mr. Frum, allow me to introduce to you the great State of Florida.  We had Concealed Carry for over thirty years now and as of August 31st, a total of 2,042,384 Floridians (with a sprinkle of people from other states) carry concealed weapons with our license. And in those 30+ years we have yet to see an incident similar to what you described.   And boy, Gun Control activists had been looking for that event with the zeal of true believers and struck out miserably.

I am all for recycling, but your argument went stale sometime before the new millennium. And by unearthing the only thing you managed to do was to cover yourself with a stink of dumb because a simple internet search would have provided you with the information I just posted here.

Now I want to give you something to think about if you decided to visit us for vacation: Florida has a population of 21.3 million and 2,042,384 people carrying concealed that makes almost one person in ten with a sidearm. The moment you step out of your hotel or time-share, one of ten people you can see may be carrying a gun.

Did I just ruin your vacation?

Spread the love

  1. In Texas the Texas DOS by law keeps statistics on EVERY conviction of a Penal Code or Natural Resources Code offense by a Texas LTC Holder.
Since 1996 . 22 years of Data . Average of about 800,000 activelicenses over those years .Thats about 18.4 million “LTC/CHL Carrier Years” Of data. This is a large and statistically significant data set.

    1) Texas LTC/CHL holders are shown by actual data to be a statistically MORE law abiding segment of society than sworn/ badged Texas Peace Officers ( not by a whole lot, but still MORE law abiding) . The data set is public at the Texas DPS website.

    2) As for a law abiding concealed carrier accidentally shooting up the surrounding? There is NO ( as in zero, nada, zip, the null set, none, keine) recorded instance of what Mr. Frum postulates, in the Texas record. NONE.

    3) Mr. Frum is apparently basing his behavior prediction on what he apparently perceives about himself. Many Leftists cannot conceive that law abiding people will not misuse firearms because those same Leftists themselves would mis-Use them; they are their own measure of behavior. “I would panic in a scary situation, so Stephen Willeford and Vic Stacey and Jeannie Assam and Other law abiding armed citizens will do the same”.

Mr. Frum is basing his public policy decisions on a straw man fantasy absolutely unsupported by actual data. He might as well be speculating on the social activities of talking unicorns. Zero data to support his position.

    1. In my above comment, thats Texas DPS not DOS. Texas Department Of Public Safety. That’s the agency that includes the State Troopers and the Texas Rangers.

  2. This feels a lot like this conversation, quoted on another blog a while back:
‘I had a liberal colleague giving me grief about guns and that gun
owners are crazy, so I just put the question to her – if someone
handed you a loaded gun, what would you do with it? She said “I’d look
for someone to shoot”. I told her “That’s the difference between me
and you – I’d be looking to be sure it was pointed toward a safe
place. You’re the one that needs professional help, not me.”‘
