From the “article“:

Hatred of journalists whipped up by populist and authoritarian leaders is degenerating into violence across the world, media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) warned Thursday.

“If the political debate slides towards a civil war-style atmosphere, where journalists are treated as scapegoats, then democracy is in great danger,” RSF chief Christophe Deloire said.
Press freedom was in good health in less than quarter of the 180 countries covered by the index, with the United States sliding to 48th place.
The period since President Donald Trump’s election in 2016 has been one of the “American journalism community’s darkest moments”, the report added.

And pry tell us why you believe Trump is a proven menace to Journalists:

“Never before have US journalists been subjected to so many death threats or turned so often to private security firms for protection,” it added.

“Hatred of the media is now such that a gunman walked into the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland, in June and killed four journalists and one other staff member,” the report added.

“That is Trumps Fault!®”  No dear Mssr. Delorie, it was not, you lying sack of French manure. Jarrod Ramos had a long-standing beef with Capital Gazette that dated back to a not-so-nice article they published about him in 2011 or six years before Trump became president. Ramos sued them for the article, lost, sent them letters and left messages that were not warm and fuzzy for six years and the newspaper did not even bother to get a restraining order. Ramos finally lost his mind and went guns on them last June.

Now, are there journalists risking like and limb out in the worlds? Dying? Yes, I have posted about it over and over and over. But trying to blame Trump for killings that got started before he was even thinking about being a candidate for the Presidency is just a cheap way to deflect the problem that Reporters Without Borders have (besides lying): They do not keep their people safe. In fct, you are making them bigger targets by lying to the people who will not give a damn if they are thrown in a dungeon or in front of a firing squad.

  1. Something else that is conveniently left out…just WHO is posing the threat to ‘Reporters’; and WHY.

It seems to me that when folks like these start talking about reporter safety/lack of neutrality being honored, they tend to paint it as state actors trying to suppress ‘the truth’…as they see it.

Now, I haven’t dug into the subject for any kind of research to confirms this suspicion, but it also seems to me that all of the ‘threat’ to reporters which they are currently worried about is coming from private actors and most likely because they perceive said reporters to NOT be neutral, but in fact propagandistic mouth pieces for state actors (official or dark/deep) spewing deception to the masses for (insert reason here).

I seem to vaguely recall something about Bill Clinton authorizing military strikes against government run media infrastructure in the Yugoslav civil war mid-90’s (Bosnia-Herzegovina now). I also DON’T recall hearing much hue and cry about it from western media outlets at the time .

  2. I seem to recall a push by various media outlets to publish as much information on firearm owners as possible. I also noticed that seemed to disappear as soon as their personal (but not ‘private’) information started being advertised publicly, while crying ‘harassment’ and ‘threats’.

    My sympathy is limited.

    1. I remember I think in Virginia and almost for sure Ohio reporters doing that. A newspaper in Ohio went into full panic mode with people moving out and the company hiring armed guards just because Gun People posted the PUBLICLY AVAILABLE information of the reporters. One was even behind in his property taxes.

      1. Don’t forget New York and Florida. Whinny reporters published gun owners personal data and then pooped their pants when the people they maliciously outed retaliated in kind (without violence, IIRC).

        1. Yes, in Florida it was those who were applying for CWPs since the application itself was not protected like the CWP. That was the Miami Times I think and they went “never mind!” quick too.

  3. Wow, THAT certainly clears things up! Thank you, RSF, thank you, thank you! NOW I know why Anderson Cooper, et al, appear to be such enthusiastic Trump supporters! They’re afraid Trump’s black shirts, ya know, Antifa, will beat them!

Completely clears it all up for me!

  4. If someone were to threaten violence against TV journalists Brit Hume and Sean Hannity, the International Criminal Court in The Hague could charge him with “crimes against Hume Hannity.”
