It has been freaking 9 months. I have been on the phone for 20 minutes listening to some cheesy Brazilian techno music (I am this close to go torch Sao Paulo) waiting for somebody to pick up and give me an idea when I am going to get the substitute Taurus 605 they promised to replace my recalled  Rossi snubby back in September 2019.

If I had ordered a silencer, i would have had a better chance to be doing quiet pews-pees by now.

UPDATE:  Finally I got through and the news are not good. A very polite young lady informed me that the gun is still in backorder and suggested that till Taurus finishes moving to its new location in Georgia, things are going to be slow.

Nothing to do but sit, grin and wait. Taurus should add a couple of Safariland speedloaders to the return for the annoyance and waiting.

Am I getting grumpier?

  1. My experience was similar. I bought a 605 for my mom and it wound up breaking. The cylinder would not turn while cocking it, if the pistol was held horizontally. It would turn if you pointed it down at the ground. I took the plate off and cleaned it, hoping there was maybe some gunk in there that was tying it up. Put it back together, and the problem was still there.

Called Taurus and they asked that we send it back. After several months, they called and asked for an FFL they could ship a new pistol to. Never did find out what was wrong with the old one.

But, the 605 is now too heavy for my mom to carry around, so we are going to sell it and buy her a Ruger LCR in .22 mag.

Hard part about selling it, is getting the value of it plus the Crimson Trace laser grips I put on it. Of course, we’ll take them off unless someone wants the combo.

On a side note, I saw an internet rumor that Beretta was going to, or has already purchased Taurus.

  2. Taurus is a weird business model. They don’t ship anything consistently except the 1911s, G2 models, and 856 (formerly 85) revolvers. Anything else, they’ll build and ship what they want when they want. And if you don’t like it, Taurus Armas’s attitude is, “Tough maduros, we’ll do what we want.”

Also, if you want to torch a city over this, it’s Sao Leopoldo.

  3. In the end, after all that hassle, you only wind up with a Taurus.
It’s like going through the labors of Hercules to win a date with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
