I always find fascinating how the Opposition twists the facts to mold them to their immediate needs. First, the first duty of a Secret Service agent in the presidential detail is not to engage in a gun battle with an assassin but to make sure the President survives such attack even if it means stepping in front of a bullet like Agent Tim McCarthy did.
But same as Handgun Control Inc (Brady Campaign today) they used Hinckley and Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman to push for Waiting Times for gun purchases and background checks for firearms sales.
The kick then and now was that both Hinckley and Chapman (Lennon’s killer) would have passed the background checks without a hitch since neither was a felon, had been adjudicated mental incompetent or where known abusers of alcohol or drugs.
And, of course, a touch of class was added by a few:

The lolarious hypocrisy is that King Bloomberg and The Monsanto Mommy still choose to have armed bodyguards even though they say themselves it won’t stop a mass murderer.
Perhaps all of those mokes duped into protecting them should just walk off the job.

Of course the GMO mom has the logic fail of believing anything is 100% efective, epecially when dealing with evil intent. Does the same logic aply to the police, military and her reporting on statistics?

Hell, the people in those photos don’t look old enough to have been adults during the Reagan administration, meaning that they hate America’s most beloved (by poll numbers) president on the words of … some left wing activists, or a college professor?
Of course, if some pro-gun people said the same stuff about Obama, these same assholes would be calling for gun owners to be tortured to death in Gitmo for being racists, un-American, traitorous, insurrectionists.
And if Brady had died, Would Sarah become the bitter dried up bitch she is now?

The first thing I notice in the passage I quoted is that Every Mom for Illegal Mayors misrepresented Mr. LaPierre’s statement, even while quoting him. Mr. LaPierre specifically stated that “a good guy with a gun” will stop a “bad guy with a gun.” Not only did they misstate his claim (changing its meaning into “will prevent tragedies from happening”) they then insinuated that a single counterexample of their straw-man proves that armed free citizens will never stop acts of violence by “a bad guy with a gun.”
Of course, the fact that armed Secret Service agents stopped the would-be assassin from further acts of violence contradicts their narrative, and is thus deemed unworthy of mention.
Mr. LaPierre didn’t say that good guys with guns will always stop bad guys with guns, but that only good guys with guns have the potential to do so.
