Feds Raid City Government Office in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Federal agents were carrying out an operation Tuesday at a municipal office building in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Telemundo PR reported.

FBI agents were raiding an office on the 15th floor of Torre Municipal de San Juan, according to authorities. The operation was related to suspected corruption in the department of procurement.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz said on Twitter that her instruction “is always total collaboration.”

“If someone has done something wrong, they should be subjected to due process and face the consequences of their actions,” she said.

Remember that Carmen Yulin Cruz was the woman who managed, after a hurricane nearly scrubbed Puerto Rico clean, to somehow have a complete wardrobe of  anti-Trump #Resistance tee shirts.

Accusations abounded that she deliberately stalled recovery efforts and made the situation worse out of a combination of corruption and anti-Trump sentiment.

I don’t think she realizes what she is in for here.

The Democrats made Trump’s handling of the Puerto Rico recovery part of their anti-GOP campaign.  Since then, bad news has trickled off the island.  Information about how poorly managed the power company was.  Images of warehouses worth of water bottles abandoned and not delivered.  Most of it ignored by the media.

Now we have, close to the election, an FBI raid on the office of the city of Trump’s most vocal Puerto Rican critic.  Everything Trump said about the recovery efforts failing because Puerto Rican goverment is more like that of the banana republics that are its neighbors than the US will be proven true.

This is one hell of an October surprise.

  1. Interesting word choice “…total collaboration,” not cooperation, or did it lose something in translation?
