There is still speculation on what the presence of lawfully armed citizns might have had at the Westgate Mall event. Right now SWAT trains for the lone active shooter who will kill themself when confronted by armed resistance.
Even if a mall (or any other location) started not just pat-down but full body scans as a condition of entry, a small armed team could easily force their way in. It would then all depend on what armed resistance was on the inside waiting for them. The Pentagon would probably be easier to take over than my local diner – everyone at the Pentagon is disarmed while the odds are that somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the folks at the diner are carrying. (One of the reasons I love living in Free America as opposed to places like New York City, New Jersey, Maryland or California.)

I was reading along when I got to this line;
