The Nazis were the National Socialists, as opposed to the Soviet International Socialists.
NAZI was the German Contraction for National Socialist German Worker’s Party.

Another way to look at it is the the Communists believed the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat” would run the State for the People until the State disappeared into “True Communism.” The Nazis believed they were the embodiment of State and should run the State in the Name of the People for the People.
