GENERAL BILL by PowellLawful Ownership, Possession, and Use of Firearms and Weapons; Prohibiting a person from owning, possessing, and lawfully using firearms and other weapons, ammunition, and supplies while engaging in certain lawful uses if he or she is within a specified distance of the real property of certain locations, etc.
If you listen carefully, you will hear the howling of outrage from the Florida OCIs. It seems that they never expected that the Opposition would bring a bill against the little Open Carry we have left to the Legislature.
Dear OCIs: this one is 100% all on you. How’s that “Normalizing Open Carry” is coming along?

This is a full on no carry anywhere bill. Notice it states going to or returning from. It is not just occupying a fishing pier, it is walking from the bus stop to the fishing pier. etc…
Pop on over to Google Earth, and draw a 1500′ radius around every church, government building, school, and beach in your area. That cuts out a LOT of real estate.
I don’t live in the most populous city in the US, but if this law were passed, about 3/4 of the city would be off limits. And, to be clear, that is not including neighborhood subdivisions that I would not be entering unless I was visiting someone. Through streets, major roadways, the entirety of downtown, etc…
The only reason this bill has little chance to pass is because its overreaching. IIRC, this crap got shutdown by SCOTUS with Clinton’s AWB omnibus crime bill.
I just for once wish people on our side stop making shit difficult. We did not need another Gun Control bill in the docket.

However, will any of the OCI people actually take any effort to fight it? Doubt it. Instead they will double down on the asshattery. Maybe this one does not stand a chance. The next one might.
No fishing holes inside the Florida Legislature. 😀
Why 1500′?. Federal school zone is only 1000′.
