So the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has taken the side of Hillary The Amnesic.

CSGV Hillary

And he beat the NRA so soundly, we elected President Gore in the next election….wait.

“Just before the House vote (on the crime bill), Speaker Tom Foley and majority leader Dick Gephardt had made a last-ditch appeal to me to remove the assault weapons ban from the bill. They argued that many Democrats who represented closely divided districts had already…defied the NRA once on the Brady bill vote. They said that if we made them walk the plank again on the assault weapons ban, the overall bill might not pass, and that if it did, many Democrats who voted for it would not survive the election in November. Jack Brooks, the House Judiciary Committee chairman from Texas, told me the same thing…Jack was convinced that if we didn`t drop the ban, the NRA would beat a lot of Democrats by terrifying gun owners….Foley, Gephardt, and Brooks were right and I was wrong. The price…would be heavy casualties among its defenders.” (Pages 611-612)

“On November 8, we got the living daylights beat out of us, losing eight Senate races and fifty-four House seats, the largest defeat for our party since 1946….The NRA had a great night. They beat both Speaker Tom Foley and Jack Brooks, two of the ablest members of Congress, who had warned me this would happen. Foley was the first Speaker to be defeated in more than a century. Jack Brooks had supported the NRA for years and had led the fight against the assault weapons ban in the House, but as chairman of the Judiciary Committee he had voted for the overall crime bill even after the ban was put into it. The NRA was an unforgiving master: one strike and you`re out. The gun lobby claimed to have defeated nineteen of the twenty-four members on its hit list. They did at least that much damage….” (Pages 629-630)

“One Saturday morning, I went to a diner in Manchester full of men who were deer hunters and NRA members. In impromptu remarks, I told them that I knew they had defeated their Democratic congressman, Dick Swett, in 1994 because he voted for the Brady bill and the assault weapons ban. Several of them nodded in agreement.” (Page 699)

Bill Clinton. “My Life.” Linked from the NRA-ILA page.

“You’ve got to give it to them, they’ve done a good job. They’ve probably had more to do than anyone else in the fact that we didn’t win the house this time. And they hurt Al Gore.” Clinton during an interview with CBS News on December 18th, 2001.

Maybe Hillary should remember the meaning of  Pyrrhic Victory.

  1. Hey it’s only your civil rights they want to remove. It’s not like it’s something important like free college you know.

  2. With yesterdays shooting at the Oregon college, the politicians are already starting to call for more gun control. Maybe they had better look back at their precious “assault weapon” ban that cost them a high price.

They say there are 80 million gun owners in the US. Every one of them should get busy today and join the NRA. What kind of voice would we have then?

  3. I was working for the NRA’s ad/pr agency in ’93/94. I lost count of the number of ads I wrote beating hell out of the politicians who voted against the Second Amendment. Also lost count of the number of hours worked in each day, week, month.

But on that fateful Wednesday morning in November of 1994, it was worth it–if for anything, just to see the shock and betrayal and butthurt on the face of the national media, not to mention the Clintons and their ilk.

  4. So the CSGV who oppose womens’ right to defend themselves against rape and assault are siding with Hillary, who laughs at rape victims and gloats about protecting their rapists?

Nope, not even a little surprised.

  5. Don’t vote stupid or Don’t vote, stupid…. since you can’t even understand your own constitutional rights after the spin masters fill your head full of rotting contempt for them.

  7. Borrowing the term from the English, I’ll start using “the Loony Left” to describe our counterparts on that side of the line…

The Loony Left, whenever they have a pet cause, marshals support via donations, lobbying, and grassroots activism. When they do it, it’s this noble cause which must not be mocked.

When the pro-2A movement does it, it’s representative of Satan himself walking amongst the people…

The Loony Left does so hate when their tactics are used against them.

  8. It really does not matter what Hillary’s views are on firearms ownership since she should be serving at least 20 years to life for her criminal activity with state secrets. If there is any justice and the rule of law it is required that she serve a ton of time in a federal prison.

  9. Braden: You are right, of course. Why there is no indictment of the former SecState makes it painfully plain that “justice for all” is not a phrase in their playbook.

Pod: So true. Our side is the Evil Gun Lobby. But their side is not the Anti-Gun Lobby… They never even refer to themselves as a lobby at all.

    All,
Look at that amazing quote from Clinton: “…we know that every constitutional right and amendment can be tailored in an appropriate way without breaching the constitution…” Say what??? She glibly destroys our Constitution and is not even taken to task for it.

    Disgusting.
