The Pride Flag should not be flown in an official capacity by any US Embassy or any Federal or state building or department.

That is not an anti-LGBT attitude.  That is an anti-“stop the division of American through identity politics” attitude.

The Pride Flag is the only flag of which I am aware that is representative of a single demographic that is regularly flown by government offices.

There is the Pan-African flag, the red, green, and black tri-color flag designed by Marcus Garvey in 1920.  It is associated with Black Liberation or Afro-Separatism and is not flown in February.

There is no Jewish flag.  Jews often fly the Israeli flag, but there is no flag representing purely the Jewish Religion.  There is a Christian flag.  It is known as the Pentecostal Flag and is a red Latin cross in a blue field on a white canton.

Flying the Pentecostal Flag above a government building, say for the month of Lent, would be a clear violation of the First Amendment as an endorsement of a specific religion.

By that logic, flying of the Pride Flag by a government agency would be an official endorsement whatever the Pride Flag is supposed to represent.

So how did we get to this point where for the month of June, the Federal and many state governments endorse, by way of displaying the flag on official flag poles, one demographic of Americans, and for the remaining eleven months of the year, no other demographic of Americans get equal treatment.

And look at how Now This frames this.  As bigotry.  Saying that US Embassies should fly one flag, the flag of the United States, a flag the represents all American citizens equally and without playing demographic favorites isn’t an anti-LGBT act.

If you want equal rights and to be treated like everyone else, that means you don’t get a special endorsement by the Federal Government one month out the year that nobody else gets.

No, you demand to be treated special where the government flies your flag and paints it into city street crosswalks and lights up government buildings in your colors.  That is not equality and don’t be surprised when there is pushback.

There is already a flag that represents gay Americans.  It is called the American flag and it represents all Americans everywhere.

  1. Of course, these days it is de rigueur for loudmouth LGBT “activists” to scream about gay washing whenever a major corporation rolls out their rainbow-themed packaging every June, sponsors a float in the pride parade, and flys the rainbow flag outside their office.

As I explained on Facebook a few weeks ago:

LGBT Activists: ”We’re here! We’re queer! Get used to it!”

Corporate America: (Gets used to it.)

LGBT Activists: “OMG! Stop treating us like normal people!”

    1. That reminds me of reports about supposed advocates for the deaf who oppose devices to restore hearing, arguing instead that sign language interpreters should be everywhere. Or similarly opponents of devices to bring sight to blind people. I can’t reconstruct their argumentation, it’s too messed up to stick in my mind.

      1. I have a friend going all the way back to the 7th grade who was born deaf. She got a cochlear implant as an adult a few years ago. She was given shit for it by other deaf people for being a “traitor.”

She didn’t get them either. Then again, per parents sent her to a private college prep school instead of a school for the deaf, so she learned to cope with her disability. Ended up with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering with no special accommodations.

  2. Sorry for posting on an old blog entry, but I agree. The Pride flag absolutely has no place on government buildings. I have no issue with gay people (I know every bigot says that, but I believe it is true, and I’m actually somewhat partial to them as individuals, as a general rule), but PRIDE, in particular, openly admits to being a leftist political organization, which does not exist simply to “fight for equal rights for gays”, but in order to abolish the traditions of marriage and monogamous relationships, to make the “gay” culture of promiscuity and casual hookups and “open relationships” the new normal. They also want children to not be raised by parents (a hetero-normative oppression, of course, but instead to be “raised by the community”, which means as wards of the state in actual fact, where no person has exclusive control of the raising and education of children, but instead they are brought up by numerous people and taught the correct indoctrination. This would actually only work by placing the kids in state custody from birth, and expand the education system so you have a whole raft of new administrators and social workers “raising” the children in a residential campus.
I didn’t get this off of a right wing anti-gay false flag website online, I got this directly from one of the founders of Pride, speaking to a fawning journalist on NPR. They have taken the usual leftist tack: make your blatantly political and revolutionary organization ostensibly about “fighting for rights of (insert preferred victim status group here)” so that anyone who disagrees with their radical and political aims can be silenced and discredited as a “bigot who hates (insert preferred victim status group here”. Only a bigot would speak against Pride! Pride is For The Gays, haven’t you heard? You must be a homophobe and a bigot to question them or their aims, or even to refuse to support them! Luckily many LGBTQ people DON’T agree with their aims (they think those who supported same sex marriage are “traitors” for “selling out” and settling for being included into the existing social structure instead of continuing the effort to dissolve it and replace it with a culture based on “gay” values and traditions.
This is the group whose flag Obama allowed to be hung from US embassies. It not only does not represent the American people, it represents a radical political organization. Again, I got this all straight from one of the men who founded the group. Just being a group that claims to have minority status does not make you immune.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
