Well Stephen, I am surprised that you being involved with “Gun Safety Groups” do not know the answer to that question. But there is hope for you; you see, the NRA has a bunch of nifty classes you can attend and tackle that and any other questions you may have regarding Firearms Safety. There are NRA instructors in your area and in fact, there is a Home Firearm Safety Course to be held in South Berwick, on 3/15/2015 with Lois Kupersmith (nra@sbrga.org). If that is too soon, there will be another in Windham, on 4/12/2015 with Anthony Sweet (sweetgundeals@yahoo.com.) You will find all the answers you need with them.

I would counter with “How paranoid do YOU want to be? How many gun laws does it take to make YOU feel safe?” Because it only takes a couple of guns for me to feel safe, but I know that the number of laws it takes to make them feel safe is “just one more.”
I don’t buy guns to feel safe. I buy guns because they’re awesome. Same reason I do anything.

Plus, my inquisitive oldest child has a gun of her own. My equally inquisitive youngest will get her own in a few (too short) years.
Of course, since both girls _are_ inquisitive, my (ex)wife and I made sure to educate them on the proper handling, safety, and storage of firearms… And cleaning chemicals… And power tools… And kitchen knives… And, well, y’know Stuff™.
Stephen King lost me as a fan WAY before he went off the (very public) deep end of the liberal/progressive pool with the pathetically inept, facile and perfunctory conclusion to THE DARK TOWER series in 2004. (I haven’t purchased a single book of his since.) Twenty-two years of waiting to read about the end of Roland’s quest and I get King, in his own novel, as the lynchpin of the alternate universe.

I have 3 guitars. I have more handguns than that. I’m with Goerge about The Dark Tower series. All those years and at the end it was WTF?? I haven’t bought any of his books since.
