So the intermarried aristocracy is tighter than ever but less trusted by the peasants than ever?
I’m just saying that is a pretty good description of France in 1789 and Russia in 1917.
I seem to remember how that went.
Not just Russia in 1917, but also the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1914, the German Empire 1914, and Italy 1945.
It’s a Big Club, and they are reminding us, “You are not in it.”
Maybe as history repeats itself, we can have it televised. That will be a nice night to relax on the couch with a bottle of fine wine.
