US could be under rightwing dictator by 2030, Canadian professor warns
The US could be under a rightwing dictatorship by 2030, a Canadian political science professor has warned, urging his country to protect itself against the “collapse of American democracy”.
“We mustn’t dismiss these possibilities just because they seem ludicrous or too horrible to imagine,” Thomas Homer-Dixon, founding director of the Cascade Institute at Royal Roads University in British Columbia, wrote in the Globe and Mail.
Homer-Dixon’s message was blunt: “By 2025, American democracy could collapse, causing extreme domestic political instability, including widespread civil violence. By 2030, if not sooner, the country could be governed by a rightwing dictatorship.”
The author cited eventualities centered on a Trump return to the White House in 2024, possibly including Republican-held state legislatures refusing to accept a Democratic win.
A “scholar of violent conflict” for more than four decades, Homer-Dixon said Canada must take heed of the “unfolding crisis”.
“A terrible storm is coming from the south, and Canada is woefully unprepared. Over the past year we’ve turned our attention inward, distracted by the challenges of Covid-19, reconciliation and the accelerating effects of climate change.

Not to put to fine a point on it but Justin Trudeau recently said out loud:

I like Canada. They are brainwashed, but no more than most of the western world. I made some good friends in Québèc, and at first, they were very surprised to find out I was conservative. They bought the whole “ignorant, heartless, racist” garbage. I opened their eyes a bit.

Speaking of dictators, I’m also against people being in government their entire lives, no matter the letter after their name. Same with family dynasties – Dingels, Clintons, Bushes to name a few, and yeah even the Trumps should any of them get the itch to run. Our system of government was not intended to operate under the purview of a select few.
As for that map, Florida isn’t blue, and neither is Ohio, although they tend to teeter back and forth. Michigan is all red except for the big cities. I would love to be able visit the great out doors in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
What happened to the northern half of Canada? And why is NH not red? (The way I figure it, any shall-issue state should be shown as red even if there is a temporary aberration in its legislative balance.)

The Founders of America wisely understood that the best guarantee of rights and freedom is not by giving the Right Man absolute power to make things right, but in decentralizing power, of separating it and checking it and balancing it and limiting it. Because history shows that no man, or small group of men can be trusted with that kind of power without turning tyrant themselves. Power corrupts after all.
And there’s an irony here- the Leftist also thinks that if his One Right Man was in charge, they would make things right, and kill all those people making things bad, and bring about utopia. Yet, when it happens, their One Right Man tends to toss those Leftist right in the gulags.
Our dictator would just do the same thing to us- because the first thing a tyrant of any political stripe does is shoot his own revolutionaries.

Canada may have a “Conservative” party, but it is a hollowed out lapdog for the Liberal Party led by a man named O’Toole. Conservative In Name Only (CINO). Most Canadians, even a lot of the so-called Conservatives are left of Joe Biden. Many are left of AOC.
