Innocent until proven guilty is a lovely, wonderful, honorable philosophy for a society as a whole to abide by.

On a personal level, however, the burden of proof is on the unknown person to prove they’re not a threat … especially at stupid times of day and in stupid places (like when they’re on someone else’s porch).
Breaking into an occupied dwelling is one place where traditional law holds guilt is presumed.
