Two news stories came across my feed.
First:
Fentanyl overdoses become No. 1 cause of death among US adults, ages 18-45: ‘A national emergency’
More adults between 18 and 45 died of fentanyl overdoses in 2020 than COVID-19, motor vehicle accidents, cancer and suicide
Fentanyl overdoses have surged to the leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 18 and 45, according to an analysis of U.S. government data.
Between 2020 and 2021, nearly 79,000 people between 18 and 45 years old — 37,208 in 2020 and 41,587 in 2021 — died of fentanyl overdoses, the data analysis from opioid awareness organization Families Against Fentanyl shows.
Second:
US Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy says he’s alarmed by the rise in suicides among young people and says COVID has caused a mental health crisis, as parents rail against school closures and continued mask mandates.
He continued: ‘You know, a decade before the pandemic, we saw a 40 per cent increase in a number of high school students who said they felt persistent feelings of hopelessness or sadness. We had increases in suicides among kids, to alarming levels.’
Expanding onto why youngsters are suffering mentally, Murthy touched on bereavement and being denied the chance to see friends during lockdowns and school closures.
He said: ‘Well, Dana, I’m so concerned about our children because there is an epidemic, if you will, of mental health challenges that they’ve been facing, and it’s partly because of the pandemic.
‘We’ve seen certainly that many children have lost loved ones during this pandemic, 140,000 kids lost to caregiver. We know that their lives have been turned upside down. They haven’t been able to see friends as often as they would. And that’s taken a toll.
COVID has grown in me a seething hatred of the Silent Generation.
These are the generation between the Greatest Generation and the Boomers, born just before or during WWII and too old to be drafted into Vietnam.
Biden, Pelosi, and Fauci, they are the Silent Generation.
They are also the age demographic most susceptible to COVID.
They are also the ones at the top of our geriatric government.
So they locked everything down to save themselves, damn those younger than themselves.
They have steadfastly refused to retire and pass the torch, hanging onto influence and affluence for far too long.
I swear, had the death rates of COVID been reversed, i.e., very dangerous to children and harmless to the elderly, not a single COVID restriction would have been pit in place. Just memos from Fauci and Pelosi how tragic is it that children are dying by the thousands, but worse is crashing the economy of this nation.
The geriatrics in charge decided to save themselves by causing crippling pain to Generation X and younger.
Every single person over 65 in our government should be shoved out on an ice floe before they do any more damage to our children.
1) 99.9999% of Everything wrongly blamed on “Boomers” has always been properly traced back to the Silent Generation. Too young to fight in WWII, and not the sons and daughters of those who did either, they have been the great vacuous wasting hole in the psyche of America since five minutes after Tojo and Adolph ruined their Me-party, and they paid America back with interest.
Naming examples is about as hard as skipping through birthdays on Wikipedia.
After the first 500, it’s not a stereotype, it’s an indicator.
2) Families Against Reality are committing the obvious and far too common fallacy of lying with facts:
There is no fentanyl overdose epidemic.
Fentanyl is a pharmaceutical-grade opioid, short-acting, thus incredibly hard to get addicted to, and harder to obtain than legal pharmaceutical-grade cocaine.
The stuff is only sold to practitioners and hospitals, and controlled tighter than machineguns are by the ATF, FFS.
What there is, is a carfentanil overdose epidemic.
Carfetanil is the garage-brewed rough equivalent of fentanyl, made from Chinese-supplied precursors, and cooked in Mexico, or the components smuggled into the US and cooked here, exactly like the meth in Breaking Bad.
The LD50 dose (i.e. the dose which will outright kill 50% of any persons ingesting that amount) of carfentanil is a quantity equivalent in size and weight to three grains of table salt.
The closest equivalent substance to it in creation is nerve gas. This is why putting so much as a spoonful of carfentanil into a kilo of heroin will kill (and has, time after time after time) every junkie treated to a single hit of it, usually found with the needle still in their arm, and would do so even if they were on a Narcan IV drip in the other arm when they shot it up.
And it’s being mixed into heroin, cocaine, and meth, by people with Common Core mathematics educations, who dropped out of school in 10th grade, which is why it’s knocking people off like bowling pins at a pistol shoot.
The short solution to that is to ban Narcan for most overdoses, other than emergency responders accidentally dosed from aerial dust at cook houses etc., and the occasional dopey granny who takes too many Percocets, and otherwise just let nature take its course.
Because of Narcan, I’ve literally saved the same jackasses three times in a single shift. They made their choices, and we should stop dragging them back in off the ledge, and perpetuating their problems.
Drug addicts die from overdoses? I’m still looking for a down side worthy of 2 seconds of society’s time and treasure.
Because when you have a huge number of young people dying of drugs you have to ask why they are taking drugs, why do we have such a drug problem what is wrong with society that so many young people, especially men, in the prime of their lives needing hard narcotics as an escape?
That is a society in decline.
Narcan won’t fix that, and neither will misidentifying the source.
Those people are dying of drugs because they’re taking drugs, and too stupid and too addicted to care what the potential consequences could be, or what retards are mixing into their sh*t. Narcan only works on opioid drug overdose, and yet we have – literally – hundreds of people every season who swear to us “I only took pot/meth/coke/Ecstasy/whatever”, yet one or two doses of Narcan later, they miraculously wakeTF back up. Because Homie The StreetChemist boosted their high with added carfentanil goodness.

Society won’t miss them, and shouldn’t bother. Give them the freedom of their choices, and the responsibility of the consequences.

Society is in decline? Thin the herd, and work with what’s left afterwards. Saving an addict is a less than a 1/10,000 chance of success. (In fact, I’m probably wildly overestimating that.) Ain’t nobody got time for that, and we shouldn’t be subsidizing it with civic resources.
The first mistake is thinking any drug use is a “victimless” crime, and decriminalizing them. If you think a War On (Some) Drugs, With Collateral Damage is expensive, wait until you see how expensive appeasement is in that fight. This is just the down payment on the tsunami to come. Exactly as predicted times beyond counting, by persons beyond numbering.
Ambulance crews should stamp “DNR” on the foreheads of ODs with indelible ink, and drive away, both by law and custom.
If private charity wants to try to save them, they should go ahead on.
Even the father of the Prodigal Son didn’t go looking for him, nor keep dragging him back; he let him find his own way home. That’s part of the lesson there, too.
Don’t assume malice when incompetence and refusal to admit a mistake fits the facts just as well. Yes, that does eventually become malice, but I don’t think it started that way. BOTH camps turned away from reason and understanding terrifyingly quickly, and too many charlatans are cashing in on the obstinance.
Trump has been the voice of reason in all this — something I think both his haters and supporters would be surprised to hear — but no one seems to be interested in using him as anything but a figurehead anymore.
Rob, does incompetence fit the facts? At some point a sufficiently large pile of facts can no longer be blamed plausibly on incompetence, because the level of incompetence required to explain the pile is too large. Especially when you’re dealing with politicians who are demonstrably in the pocket of the CCP — the outfit sourcing these poisons.
I’d say that Covid, fentanyl, and TikTok are just three examples of a widespread CCP effort to destroy the USA. I suspect a pile more examples would be easy to find.
I’ve always been a FIRM believer in giving a junky a five gallon bucket of the drug of their choice, lock them in a rubber room and walk away. Stop by each week to take out the carcass, clean the room and put the next volunteer in. Cold hearted? No, they volunteered and refused treatment.
