Stage 16 halted as riders hit by pepper spray at Tour de France

A protest by local farmers resulted in a 15-minute neutralization on Stage 16 of the Tour de France after a police officer used pepper spray on protestors, which then blew into the peloton.

To be fair, who among us has not wanted to pepper spray a group of cyclists for taking up two lanes of traffic on a road?

  1. I know the feeling I live like two miles away from a twenty mile bike trail yet hordes of bikers block my drive way all the time

  2. I have helped provide ham radio communications for a number of charity bike rides. Most of the riders were appreciative and courteous. However more than a few were arrogant, condescending, and downright rude. These were the ones who rode blocking lanes, and refused instructions relayed by us from the event organizers. Note, these were not races just fund raising events for local charities.
