A jury that saw surveillance video of a homeless man stabbing a 16-year-old girl and several others who subdued him at a Pittsburgh Target store was expected to begin deliberating his fate on attempted homicide and other charges.
But the defense says the man, 44-year-old Leon Walls, is mentally ill, was hearing voices and isn’t legally responsible for the rampage on March 25, 2013.
Allegheny County prosecutors played the video at trial Wednesday.
The jury was expected to begin deliberating after hearing closing arguments Thursday morning.
Police say Walls grabbed the girl by the hair and dragged her away from her family before stabbing her in the chest and arm.Walls then used her as a shield as others tried to stop him, cutting several of them in the process.
The girl has recovered.
And guess what? Target is suing Michael Turner, the man that stopped the knife attack and kidnapping.
Target says Turner and his friends caused ‘unreasonable risk of harm to others’ when they pursued and ultimately helped capture the attacker.
Really Target? Tone deaf much? Or maybe plain blind about the PR optics on this one. You just said to your customers “We at Target don’t give much of a damn about customer safety and we rather see you bleeding.”
I don’t care what the corporate lawyers said, you just don’t step on the stupid gas pedal even if you are “legally” right.
You made WalMart look nicer safer. Not a small achievement.
So while Kroger says “we follow the laws where we operate”, Target says “we’ll punish you if you try to stop a kidnapping, rape, and murder”.
But which one is hated by those who claim to be against violence?
They’re against GUN violence,(or, so they say.)
Target, IIRC, is also one of those chains who “caved” to the Demanding Mommies and “requested” their shoppers leave their concealed carry guns at home.
The message is now, “We not only want you to not succeed at stopping a kidnapping, rape, and murder; we want you to not even try.”
Dude, fight smarter, not harder. Target has a sports section. Grab a baseball bat and cave the attacker’s head in, don’t just try to tackle him.

Given the fact that you morons have formally announced that your customers’ lives don’t matter, Kroeger and Wal-Mart and several other “big box” stores would like to thank you tremendously for all the customers you have sent to Kroeger, Wal-Mart, etc.
Please DO NOT be alarmed about your rapidly depleting stock values. This is a natural consequence of wiping your asses on people who refuse to behave like good compliant victims.
