It’s that he’s right it was infuriates me so much.
Politics has become like Christmas. I love Christmas. I went to Lowes today to buy lightbulbs and they are already playing Christmas music. They put up the inflatable Santas on November 1st, as soon as they took down the inflatable Halloween Skeletons. Christmas music in the first week of November makes me want to punch a sales clerk.
As soon as Trump won the 2016 election, what would happen in 2018, assuming RUSSIAN COLLUSION didn’t take him out sooner was on the table.
The 2018 election is over, except for Florida and Arizona, and the media is already going on about 2020.
Miguel is dead on about some portion of the Democrats having a “win at all costs” attitude. Where I disagree with him is that I believe there are a lot of Democrats that are in the silent majority, but they are just too scared to say anything.
Clearly the Democrat party is the party of radicals.
Yes, there are a lot of Democrat voters, but the party leadership and the loudest voices of the party are the radicals. The Socialists, the #Resistance, the nut jobs pounding on the doors of the Supreme Court crying because a dubious 30 year old accusation didn’t destroy a man with a sterling reputation.
I think the purpose of this is to wear the rest of us down.

I really wonder about a second Civil War. What that would really look like.
I talked to a few people today at work, sharing my post and I think the Civil War 2.0 will require about as many casualties as Gettysburg.

I don’t want to divide up the country. I don’t want to occupy New York City or San Francisco. I just want to take the minority of outraged Radicals and build a monument to freedom with their skulls.
Imagine if the Middle Class French had just shot all the Jacobin, the Reign of Terror would have been over in a day.
I’m just curious how many people feel the way I do. I don’t want to stop fighting and I don’t want lose my rights. Sometimes you just have to nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war before it goes on forever.

I know this is old but it is still relevant. You’d need to wash, rinse, and repeat a few times. It is like a spoiled child or training an animal. They’ll cry louder at first, expecting society to fold to the demands but if you maintain consistency and discipline. Repetition of the same message will elicit correct behavior and is eventually understood. But it is never as quick as you would hope. It is proportional to the time we’ve allowed the bad behavior.

Conundrum: How soon is too soon to step up and act? Common “morality” would have it that you’re not justified to act until 1941, and millions of Jews have been murdered. But is that really morality? The truly moral act would be to objectively see the coming trends (because history DOES repeat itself), and proactively eliminate Hitler and a few dozen of his closest friends/allies. Yeah, that puts the blood of those few on your hands, and probably a life sentence in the graybar. But is that harder to live with than taking a “wait and see” attitude that ultimately results in the aforementioned horrors of the 3rd Reich? Which is the truly moral choice, and which is justified vengeance? Is it better to act and possibly be wrong about a few dozen, or even a few thousand, as opposed to waiting until millions of innocents are being shoveled into mass graves with a front-end loader?

There was a study talked about a few weeks ago that claimed all the political protesting, pink hats, and other left wing stuff you see represents less than 10% of the left. In rough numbers, that sounds like 1,000,000 people. Maybe that sets an upper limit on the number of casualties.
Gettysburg had 51,000.
For years now, I’ve been saying if/when Civil War 2.0 goes hot, it will bring a level of ugliness the world has never seen. The Rwandan genocide was bad, and done with primitive weapons like machetes. Think Rwanda with modern weaponry.
The 1860 census said there were 31,443,321 American before the Civil War. The war gave us 620,000 deaths or just under 2% of the population.
Today the same number is one third of the people living in Manhattan. If we go percentage wise, the number of deaths of CW 2.0 would have to be 6,5 million.
It will be a lot higher than that. People back then knew how to take care of themselves. If supply chains fall apart and the supermarkets run out of food, people will kill each other over a can of soup.

Hmm. In W.W. II there was progressive FDR allied with communist Stalin. England only had Churchill for the war, and was otherwise well into the process of going Progressive/socialist. The Progressive/socialist/communist Allies were fighting against National Socialist Germany and Imperialist Japan. So who’s “side” is which? Point is; in an ideological Venn Diagram, all the “sides” had more overlap than differences– As much as it may have been portrayed as an ideological war, it wasn’t.

In the past American Civil War, both “sides” had a government set up on their side, providing a command, support and supply structure. One command was able to surrender, ending the conflict and letting the rank and file solder go home without official recriminations or reprisals. If there is another one, no part your government will be organized and structured on your side. Your government is more aligned with a global agenda, and so far there’s no hint of any such structure on the horizon, or of the “sanctification” or “holding harmless after the fact” of the officially recognized soldier.
No; if there’s another civil war, it would more resemble the French Revolution than your little, “one and done” skirmish scenario (remember; the North thought the Civil War would a little “one and done” skirmish too, and the ladies even came out in their summer dresses to watch the South get whipped), and it is certain that foreign interests would be involved in the actual fighting this time around. Since there would likely be no defined borders or territories, and since your own government would be against the pro-liberty interests, it’d be more of a free-for-all, a multi-faceted, multi-faction mess of madness.
The pencil-necked, Critical Theory-indoctrinated, spoiled street agitators and the paid and organized riot-starters are only there to serve as the spark. Part of the problem is that so many of them are MISSIONARIES. They’re DEDICATED. As you said, as a friend of mine constantly discuss, we have lives and jobs and families and hobbies. This IS their life. They LIVE to create the Great Socialist Utopia.
