The father is Andy Parker; his daughter, WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, was gunned down last month along with colleague Adam Ward. After the incident, Andy Parker said he would do “whatever it takes” to improve gun control laws in a needed effort to reduce gun violence. Thus was born the hashtag #WhateverItTakes, which was quickly embraced by some gun control groups.

Yael T. Abouhalkah is the butthurt writer of that piece. It makes me laugh that he and his ilk do believe that they are not to be opposed when they speak their piece, and find themselves horrified that others would not only have a different point of view, but are daring enough to take them in their alleged sacred grounds. That is unfeelingly, that is impolite…we are mocking the poor victims with our presence alone! The horror! Isn’t there any humanity left?
If I missed the memo where Twitter became private parcel of the Gun Control movement, would somebody be kind enough to forward it to me?
I guess they were not expecting that the rednecks would show up, pee on the potted palms, take their sisters and a bottle of white lightning upstairs to have a good time and watch college football in their living room.

This is true. For them, regardless of their level of desired “regulation”, they feel that it is their way or the highway.
We had a “national conversation” about UBC’s, mag limits, modern rifles, etc… they lost.

What is a “hashtag movement?”
I thought that hashtags were twitter’s way of making it easy for people who have an interest in a subject to locate tweets about that subject. How can there be a hashtag movement? That’s like saying there is a Google movement, or a keyword movement.
Do these people actually think a hashtag has some kind of meaning more significant than a table of context, or an index?
It’s called “Slacktivism”. People can sit at their keyboards and be all offended, and tweet or facebook something just to feel superior to everyone, but when asked to actually do something, they can’t even.
Pretty much. They feel by contributing to a hashtag campaign that they “did something”. And then they get pissed when their hashtag is used against them. They forget that the architecture of the major social networks doesn’t include a moderation feature for a hashtag (due to the scale of such things) so they are wide open for hijacking and abuse.
So, it is like “raising awareness.” then?
Yeah, pretty much. They feel by “raising awareness”, that they did their part.

I’m pretty sure the truth about guns started it with asking readers to post pics of the #whateverittakes MDA sign filled in with their own progun messages. Yael can’t even research properly…
I went to the comment section of the article and was amazed at the tyrannical moo-battery of most of the commenters. I tried to engage in a “Conversation” with them and refuted some untruths. I was told to go away and find a new hobby.
