When you have one side constantly abusing the good will and manners of the other side, it stands to reason the fuses will grow shorter and polite people will no longer be polite. And just to make the point even stronger, the above video happened in Canada.
When you piss off Canadians…

I have said before that Liberals confuse manners with weakness and it will be a painful mistake.

It does not matter how valid and great you message is, if you deliver it like a douchebag, do not expect people taking kindly to your actions and be ready to taste their frustration with a physical response.

Hat Tip to Sean Sorrentino for the second video.

  1. Most people want to just get through their day, and have enough hassles and headaches already. Making that worse is not a good way to win hearts and minds.

The bullhorn to the face, now, that’s a whole higher level of provocation, not to mention just plain rude and obnoxious. Just like with the Starbucks guy, bullhorn guy here should be grateful the person he assaulted has a reasonably tolerant nature. (Based on the observation that the bullhorn was intact and the holder had all of his teeth at the end of things…)

    1. Spot on. For some reason, I’m reminded of the old excuse for Italian fascism “At least the trains run on time”. Obviously incomparable to the above vids, but similar in the notion that the folks pushing back are simply trying to work and get through their daily routine.

Interrupt normalcy long enough, people will start forcing it back into place.

  2. I would have been sorely temped to take the bullhorn away from the guy and shove it down his throat (or up a different orifice).

  3. Just WTF were they protesting inside an in-n-out burger?

Jesus, you can’t even choke down a burger in peace. Man, that’s it. I’m done as well.

I’m big, old, and mean enough to herd these imbeciles out of my way.

Have to say, though, the best example this week was the protestors in the London subway that were dragged off the top of the train and given beatdowns.

    1. They were probably protesting that In and Out sells meat. As you well know, meat is ruining the planet.

On the other hand, if you were to go into their vegan/granola/soy cafe and tell a mildly off color joke, you would be tossed out on your backside so quickly it would make your head spin.

      1. In “The Art of War”, it’s pointed out that food is the heaven of the people.
Go after someone’s double bacon cheeseburger, and you’re making things personal.

  4. It is always interesting that the people who are flagrantly imposing their will on top of other people, in other words violating their rights, suddenly become an expert on “rights” when they are being arrested, removed from the premises, or whatever.

For whatever reason, they think their right to use a bullhorn inside a restaurant outweighs the restaurant patrons rights to enjoy a meal. Or the commuters right to get to work without additional hassles.

    1. Does a 100db bullhorn in your face constitute enough risk of hearing damage that pepper spray is commensurate self defense?

    1. Only problem with that is the groups (at least the bigger ones) have lawyers ready to sue you into oblivion once you snap and whack them up side the head. Just put a black mask on first. I’ve been told that makes things OK and gets you released from arrest with probation or less.

  5. How about spraying the protesters with blood? That has been a well accepted and socially approved tactic of the Animal Rights and Anti-Fur folks. Why not just expand the usage of that tactic a bit?

Don’t have blood? Red food coloring, corn syrup or sugar and water could work. Water down some ketchup or tomato sauce for another recipe. Maybe use water balloons for a delivery vehicle?

      1. I was thinking about the In n Out Burger protesters. What would/could I do with the materials on hand if I worked there? Throwing hot fryer oil at them is probably excessive, and makes a terrible mess. So is chasing them out waving a chefs knife. (The police frown on that, even if they were drunk and groping one of your waitresses at midnight.)

There are always other alternative methods of expressing your displeasure if you have imagination. Like the old geezer that glued his hand to the London Tube car? About the most you could get by with is “accidentally” spilling your drink on him. How many commenters thought, I have a tourniquet, quick clot, and a knife; some disassembly may be required? Not that we would ever do it. As that was in formerly Great Britain, mere possession of those three items over there would probably be ten years in a British prison.

What can we get by with, without losing our jobs and our freedom?

  6. These people are mad. They are taking advantage of the nature of people to avoid conflict. But that only goes so far. It’s nice to see normal people fighting back.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
