Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

  1. While at an open house in FL, heard a now future neighbor plinking on their property. I looked at my wife with a big stuoid shit-eating grin while pointing towards the gunfire and then the lake back and forth. Its a dream house for the wife — on a small lake, dream house for me for other reasons. Gonna be making me some new friends in about 1 month!

  2. Up here it drives the hippies crazy when Americans practice American things. This past January we had an informal shoot with HK P51s.. 8.5 inch barrel, .308, full auto. We have FFLs , large fun! FYI- when ever you go out to play its a good idea to inform your local police dept. that way if some snowflake calls them they already know and dont have to respond. Established good relations dont hurt.

    1. Heck, invite the police as part of the heads up.
      .
Seriously. That way you’ll learn (if you don’t already know) who on the local force are gun people.

  3. Here in NH things work the same way. I do some target shooting in my back yard from time to time, and so do several of my neighbors. A farmer friend a few towns over has enough space that he can take his .50 Barrett for a spin if he wants to.

  4. My parents live in a different semi-backwoods part of Tennessee, and it’s an unusual trip where I don’t travel back there with a trunk full of loud happiness. First words out of my nephew’s mouth are usualy “what did you bring to shoot.” Kid’s a rare teenage history buff, and he just about soiled himself the time I pulled out the Garand. Good times!

  5. I have a similar feeling at our place in NE TN. Live off a 1/2 mile long dead end road. We hear gunfire many times per week especially on nice evenings. Nice to know we have backup if needed. I believe everyone on the road shoots and there is at least 3 other ranges besides mine and one in the planning stages.

  6. Believe it or not, it is the same here in rural Kommiecticut. The cities all have “Shot Spotter” monitoring for criminal activity and violence, but in my town you can hear gunfire whenever its nice outside, especially on the weekend. There are regulations that pertain to hunting, but not target shooting. All you need to do is shoot safely. Cops will come when called, but they usually end up telling the complainant to suck it up.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
