Miami Beach PD, having solved all the crime that ails the city, went dumb on a LEGAL Open Carry event.
Florida statute 790.25-3 (h) allows Open Carry for “A person engaged in fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition;”
The worst part? The MBPD Chief had been notified on June 7 of 2018 that this event was going to happen.
I hope Florida Carry gets a good chunk of money in reparations.
In the meantime, visit Miami Beach and enjoy the peaceful and law abiding atmosphere.
Great article! I’m glad evidence has been presented that Florida Carry did their due diligence, like they always do, and notified the cops prior. I knew they did, but seeing it posted helps enormously.
This is, of course, not ignorance, but intimidation. They know full well the law. They know full well that these folks were within the law.
But they don’t like the law, and they believe that they are the law unto themselves. So they engage in this sort of intimidation – and that’s exactly what it is – intimidation.
They don’t care what the law is, as long as you don’t violate THEIR laws.
Know your place, proles.
Miami Beach believes to be exempt from State preemption… Good luck.
The way the sun sentinal presented this, and the comments from Miami Beach PD, you would think these guys were terrorist. Herald also ran the same story.
I am gonna bet MBPD and the Mayor took it as an affront since they joined in the lawsuit against State Preemption
So, being this was a planned event and notifications were given, can these guys also claim their 1A rights were violated (being that they were making a political statement)? Genuinely curious.
Next time they should have a few “unarmed and apparently uninvolved” observers running cameras from a distance. If I thought I might be provoking an unlawful reaction from police, I would have the entire pier wired for sound and video.
Hopefully they did, and they are saving it for the proper time? Let the officers testify and be deposed before you reveal any contrary evidence?
Cameras are ubiquitous, use them.
