State records show more than 130 registered sex offenders attend or work at colleges, universities, or vocational schools in South Florida.

While nearly every college, university, and vocational school in South Florida has registered sex offenders enrolled or employed, Local 10 found most students had no idea who is sitting next to them and teaching them in the classroom because the state doesn’t make the information easily accessible.

A 19-member task force commissioned by Gov. Rick Scott to review Florida’s Stand Your Ground law has put out its final report, largely voicing support for the law.

The task force made a handful of recommendations for the Legislature, but began the report by stating that, at its core, the self-defense law is fine as it is.

The timing could not be any better. Poll after poll indicated that a substantial majority of Floridians supported SYG and found all the “scandal” more a PR stunt than an actual failure of the law. Many a crappy prosecutor will be pissed, but they work for us and not the other way around. They don’t get to be Grand Inquisitors and decide by whimsy who has a right to self-defense and who does not.

“He could have used a warning,” Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins’ sister-in-law, said. “He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense.”

Pipkins had a lengthy criminal record. He served time in prison and was convicted of theft, possession of a Controlled Substance and criminal trespassing.

I am sorry, but if after serving time in prison you still do not get that breaking into people’s homes is a no-no, no amount of warning is gonna help him see the light….. other than the muzzle flash.

I was reading through the new proposed Anti Gun legislation coming up in California, and this sentence caught my attention:

By creating a new crime, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

And yes, I know they do the creating crimes out of the same whole cloth used for the Emperor’s new wardrobe. I guess it is refreshing to see for once some sort of twisted honesty by them saying “we believe in Malum Prohibitum and f*** you and f*** your Bill of Rights.”
