With all the hysteria about bump stocks and the fact that they have been illegal in Florida since last October, a week ago I contacted Miami Dade PD and asked them how many of the things have been turned in and I got three emails last night.

I got the emails late because they have been trapped in my spam killer. I Whitelisted them and applied for the temporary password: Still waiting. Do they generate the temp password manually?
This is how they win: They choke you on a sea of red tape and put a time limit on how long can you swim. I still want to see how much they want to charge me for telling me a number… if it exists.
I doubt they’ll give you the numbers this way. In New York, they had to file and win a FOIL lawsuit to eventually get the state to release the number of registered “assault rifles”, which for the state, was an embarrassingly low number. I have no doubt the information about bump stocks will be equally embarrassing for Florida’s government.
Florida’s Sunshine Law is not perfect, but damned good. If the do not want an exaggerated amount of money, I’ll stay with it.
Its probly a big fat ZERO hence the red tape emails…
