Does anybody have an idea or link about the weapons qualification and what does it entail? I might be still too coffee-less but I can’t find a description of what will we have to shoot. About the only info I have found is that you need 50 rounds, nothing about what we are gonna be shooting at, distances, etc.
Any help will be appreciated.

20 rounds at 3 yrds, 20 at 5 yrds, 10 at 7, any caliber

Wen I took it 6 years ago I asked the instructor what the average score was and he said 100. In my class of 20 (10 at a time) I think there were only 3 that didn’t get 100. One fellow had never shot a hand gun before. We started with one shot at 3 yards so the instructors could observe. He gave a couple of people extra instructions and then we began. Take as long as you want to shoot. I think the fellow that had never fired a hand gun before was the low score at 90. I think everyone was using .22s.
Same “field of fire” here in Texas, different scoring system, total score 200. Whatever. Due to circumstances, I hadn’t fired any weapon for at least ten years, still only missed perfect by 5 points. I’d say you’ll have no problems. Unless you do the “4 bourbons, SHOWTIME!!” first. ;-))
As an aside, the instructor was a 35+ year police veteran. He started in on my ass about the excessive power of my 40 S&W, he only believes in carrying a 380 to keep from killing half the people in the county from over penetration. Surprisingly, I just smiled and kept my yap shut. Which shocked the hell out of most people I know. ROFLMFAO

Remember the game at the carnival where you had a fully automatic air rifle and you had several seconds to completely shoot out the center target on paper? And of course you did, but the carny the folded the flap back over and screwed you out of the prize.
Yup, Texas test like that. 50 rounds at damn near contact distance. There wasn’t a 10 ring left when I was done. Instructor basically eyeballed the targets shot by guys like me and wrote 200 on the score. I mean, heck, shooting a Browning Hi-Power at 5 yds? I shoot bowling pins at 100 yds with that gun.
Years ago I was told, in a recorded target shoot, never be perfect, because in a real life shooting you’re going to be asked “if you’re that good a shot, why didn’t you just wound the POS?” No I didn’t miss one shot, but they were scattered all over the necessary area, best I could do. LOL
The Texas test does go back to 15 yards, with time limits. These are low bars, but they are bars. Just try not to pinch yourself in the slide.
