Or the South.

It’s inevitable when my husband and I visit family these days that the subject of violence in Baltimore comes up. Often, I’m the one who raises it. But when it came up last week on a trip to see my parents in Georgia, I got my back up. I thought of the 11-hour drive south and the billboards we passed along I-81 boasting guns for sale (“A Glock for Christmas”!), and of the story my brother-in-law, who lives in Florida, told of a neighbor stopping by to shoot the breeze in his suburban driveway, a handgun holstered at the man’s waist as their kids played nearby.I’m less afraid of the criminals wielding guns in Baltimore, I declared as we discussed the issue, than I am by those permitted gun owners. I know how to stay out of the line of Baltimore’s illegal gunfire; I have the luxury of being white and middle class in a largely segregated city that reserves most of its shootings for poor, black neighborhoods overtaken by “the game.”

You have to love White Yanks and their airs of superiority.  How joyful she is that only Negroes and Rednecks are the problem and not her.

  1. Hmm. Afraid of the gun owners, but less afraid of criminals.

Rhetorical question time: (the answer is always the same; “of course not, she’s a SJW journo!”)

Does math work in her brain?
Does she realize that “permitted gun owners”–the ones she’s so afraid of– are the least likely people to ever harm her, or anyone else?
Does she realize that if even 1% of lawful gun owners weren’t (lawful), and went on the shooting and killing sprees that her ilk imagine gun owners are capable of, there would be hundreds of thousands or millions of people getting killed by guns every year?

  2. “a gun owner registry available to the public online — something like those for sex offenders. I’m not equating gun owners with predatory perverts, but the model is helpful here”

Lying bitch, that’s exactly what you are doing.

“Guns in the home are far more likely to be used accidentally, in suicides or family disputes than in self defense, according to studies based on anecdotal evidence.”

Kellerman? Again? even though he was discredited.

“The rest of us should have a right to know it’s there before we — or our children — enter.”

Even if you did grace me with your presence, what’s in my house is none of your business. Stay in your liberal shit hole and leave us law abiding gun owners alone.

As I saw once, “Don’t start nothin, won’t be nothin”.

  3. She’s so close to admitting the truth that the horrible “gun crime” problem she’s deathly afraid of comes from only a small handful of zip codes out of the entire country… but she’d never say it. She’s incapable of saying that the problem is the society in that place she doesn’t have to go to. She’s incapable of saying the stupid SJW policies that I bet she believes in, the policies that destroyed the family, are the problem in that place.

She’s even incapable of doing her job; “investigative journalism” to the degree of looking up the statistics on just how dangerous those rednecks with guns on their hips are, because then she’d have to admit that, like Shrimp said, they’re the safest people in the country to be around.

She lives in the her own universe where the laws of cause and effect don’t exist.

  4. So what happens when she finds out that the neighbor family that her family carpool to soccer with, or has backyard cookouts with owns guns?

Does she cut ties with them? Are they tainted? Does she say to her daughter “I’m sorry honey, but you can’t have anymore sleepovers or play dates with your BFF Suzy anymore?”

Probably, and she’s a worse person for it.
