  1. There are times when I feel like I know what I’m doing and other times when I’m positive that the kid that failed first grade knows more than I do.

I recently purchased a Remington R1 1911. After about 500 rounds of factory ammo through it I was still getting failure to go into battery about once per mag. Didn’t matter if it was the mags that came with the firearm or the wilson combat mags, or my colt mags. It just didn’t want to do the right thing.

Therefore I decided to send it into Remington for repair. Called them up told them the problem. 3 days later an email arrives telling me to expect a package. a week and a half later I get the shipping box.

I package everything up and head off to the fedex people ship it but decide I’ll have my FFL ship it instead. He did for no charge. I felt much better having him handle it than some min wage person at the FedEx store.

4 business days later I get acknowledgement of that have the firearm. 7 days later nothing.

I call and ask the status. “Oh it hasn’t gotten to the bench yet.” “Did they get the pictures I sent in on the ticket with examples of FTF/FBattery?” Nope. So I resend the images to him to attach to the ticket.

7 days later I call and ask for an update. “Oh, it takes 5 to 6 weeks to process”

    WHAT!

Ok, I’m an old foggy. Not one of the Amazon age. But really 10 weeks to turn around a repair? I’m just glad it wasn’t a firearm I was dependent on.

Is this the norm for firearm repairs? I was seriously expecting a 3 week turnaround.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
