This is the end of our judicial system.

Conviction in court obtained by mob coercion of the jury.

We must protect our juries at all costs or we might as well cut out the middle man and go straight to trial by Twitter poll.

    1. Yep. Both the prosecution and the defense proved Derek Chauvin was innocent. It was the jury that ignored all the evidence and found him guilty.

Guilty of being there during a suicide, basically.

  1. What can we do? Is threatening a jury a crime? That’s certainly what this guy is doing. This is getting close to the “shouting fire in a crowded theater” scenario. The defense would be like saying, “he didn’t shout ‘fire!’ he simply said the word ‘fire’.”

Is it a crime when the mafia guy says, “it would be a shame if something should happen,” as they indirectly threaten you?

    1. Yes, threatening a jury is a crime. Jury tampering of any type is illegal.

So? Who’s going to file charges? The Prosecutor who’s pushing for a guilty verdict against Kyle?

Yeah, you see the problem now. The prosecutor’s office has no reason at all to try to stop outside influence that gets a guilty verdict. Just like in the Chauvin trial where jurors openly stated afterwards that they were scared to vote ‘not guilty.’

A threat is a threat is a threat. But who polices the threat? Thus you see the issue.

Cops will arrest people for committing crimes. It’s the prosecutors who drop the ball or plea the case down or just refuse to prosecute.

  2. Yeah… and it occurred to me, some time ago, that there’s more’n one way to look at (e.g.) ACB’s family.
Your or I might look at the family and think she’s got her life together.
Others, though… others might look at the family and say, “Nice kids, judge. Be a shame if anything were to happen to them.”
There are times when the Odd-Man Hypothesis makes a lot of sense (even if it was a fiction-within-a-fiction).

  3. The way to fix this as a country is first: an immediate warrant to arrest anyone making such a claim in public. The charge? Jury tampering. They have arrested people for the same charge merely because they were standing outside the courthouse handing out “fully informed jury” pamphlets. This is far beyond that.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
