I just read J. Kb.’s  post on the Kentucky eye glass Mafia and it almost divinely coincidental that last night I was getting information where to send the old glasses we have accumulated around the house. After a search I found out that the local Lion’s Clubs will take old prescription eyewear donation to give to those in need.  But how about Kentucky? What does the Lion’s Club do to help poor people in need of prescription glasses? They only get to help them figure out how fill paperwork to buy them.

The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation is governed by the Lions Clubs of Kentucky.  Many of these clubs offer assistance with purchasing glasses for those in need in their communities.  The Lions eyeglass program is not directly affiliated with the Foundation and the Foundation has no input into the various programs.  Several clubs in the Louisville area do offer assistance to those in need and have an application that must be completed for an individual to be considered.

So while I am gonna mail all the family’s old eyewear to mail to the Lions Club over at Dania Beach, imagine the thousands of pair of old glasses going to waste in Kentucky because of a little Mafia between the Optometrists and the Government.

The idea is for the people to see, you dense mother f******!.

  1. I live in Johannesburg South Africa. Strange co-incidence is that a good friend is going today to the local lions club who assist with glasses. They have an agreement with a local optician to do the tests, you pay a small amount but it’s roughly 10% the cost of new glasses via the store.
Thanks for sharing, great blog you have here.
