Caristo argues that he’s not trying to infringe on anyone’s right, only asking gun owners not to openly carry in certain places and not to “intentionally place people in fear.”

Here’s the problem with that last bit. While I don’t like how Florida Carry is doing this, one would be hard pressed to claim they’re intentionally trying to scare people. While I think that’s an obvious side effect of openly carrying AR-15s in public, that doesn’t mean that’s the intention and Caristo surely must understand this.

Gun Rights Activists Respond To Palm Beach Open Carry Assault

I agree with the author. But there is no way that Florida Carry does not understand the damage these events of Fishing With Rifles are causing to the image Gun Rights in the State. They are not dumb.

My opinion? The organization is being held hostage by a minority of faux activists who know Florida Carry will not come down and regulate the use of their name at these “Fishing with AR15s” events.  Why? They don’t want to be called traitors, or create undue ruckus in an already fragile Gun Rights front in Florida and certainly it looks bad when you have members leave while badmouthing an organization.

I understand that Florida Carry started as Florida Open Carry. But the organization has supposedly grown into more areas than Open Carry and needs to seriously think its tactics and political maneuvers in order to achieve goals. There are many ways to remove the skin of a feline and that should be explored. We are here to advance gun rights and nobody can demand to archives that advance by only using approved-by-purity instructions from a bunch of hostage takers than do not care or sem to understand that the goal is more important than their need to post a video in YouTube.

Florida Carry must ask a question: Do we care more for the gun rights of Floridians or the feelings of some emotional terrorists seeking notoriety?

Anyway, that is my particular opinion. And yes, I understand it won’t be popular and I don’t care.

PS: A reminder that as of date and time of this posting, we in Florida are at 29 Gun Control laws (so far) for next year’s Legislative session.

  1. IMO ‘faux activists’ is right.
False Flag operations are a known tactic.
People join then use the group’s name while doing outrageously stupid things to purposely damage the cause.
Especially in areas where the cause has “brittle” support, it takes balls to kick the idiots out due to the concern for the trouble they might cause.

  2. Dear Florida Carry:
As a long-time member, I am seriously considering not renewing my membership this year. Please find a way to gently school the AR- toting activists and respectfully ask them not to continue, at least for the time being.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
