I see it as “Yes, we can do it” concept than a viable cheap way to build AKs. Anyway, if anything it is reinforcing the idea that “You Can’t Stop he signal, Mal.”  and to try to put the genie back in the bottle is a fool’s errand.

Maybe some 3D printed variation of a Swedish K? That is as simple as it gets.

    1. Indeed, just as you needed a license to own a copying machine in the Soviet Union.
Then again, there are ghost guns, which actually make a lot more sense. And while you might try to outlaw the Ghost Gunner machines, it would be a lot harder to get away with trying to ban a Sherline CNC machine (similar capabilities, not much more expensive) or a regular CNC milling machine. The controlling codes can be distributed around the Internet, or even printed in a book just like PGP was way back in the dark ages.

  1. Forget CNC or 3D printers. There needs to be a simple set of plans using Big Box Hardware Store parts for the Swedish K and the Owen.

  2. Y all want a “ghost gun” go buy one private sale, no ffl. Besides last I knew( 07 FFL) owning a firearm with no serial number is a FELONY.

    1. Manufacturing a firearm with no serial number is perfectly legal as long as you don’t try to sell it. Removing a serial number or possessing a firearm with a defaced serial is a felony. Selling a firearm with no serial number is also a felony.

      1. What defines a serial number? Can any unique combination of alphanumeric characters count, or must it be registered?
Is it specifically selling or is it simply transferring said firearm which is illegal.

      2. Selling a firearm without a serial number isn’t a felony; plenty still around prior to 1968, when serial numbers were legislated… you just indicate “NS” or “No Serial” in the bound book of acquisitions/depositions at your FFL.

Manufacture with the intent to sell or engage in business requires a serial number. Bit of a difference.

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
