Oliver’s argument is pretty much, Israel is better equipped to defend itself and therefore there is no equity in casualties and that makes Israel the bad guy.
This is not much different than Ilhan Omar’s Tweet about the Palestinians not having Iron Dome or the other complaints about proportional response.
At best, the people to agree with Oliver don’t care about inent. Hamas wants to wipe out the Jews, commit actual genocide, and deliberately target children. Israel calls off strikes when there is the risk of hitting children and has offered Hamas peace in the past.
But never mind that. Not enough Jews have died because Israel is just too good at defending itself and that’s not fair. More Israeli citizens need to die to be equitable.
The Left has always hated the Jews, but I watch this and I get frightened that the tide has shifted and that in today’s Woke world, more people want to wipe out the Jews than stand against it.

The reason more Gazans died than Israelis is because Hamas wants it to be that way. That’s the total and complete answer.

We’ve lost the concept of punishment. At the end of the day, the Palestinians picked this fight. They need to be punished so hard that they give it up.

Equity and equality are two very different things. A distinction the folks on the left do not acknowledge.
What makes “equity” dangerous is it’s all about tearing things down. School districts are getting rid of advanced math and science courses because not enough minorities are getting into them. instead of building up the minorities and working on ways to improve their education, they instead choose to destroy opportunity for those capable of above average performance.
Got a nice neighborhood with a high standard of living? The leftist want to move slum dwellers in because it is unfair that you are enjoying what you earned.

Equity requires that everyone loses something.
Oh, they do acknowledge the difference. They are pushing for equity precisely because they know what it means. And they picked the word for the same reason they picked “assault weapon”, it’s a political slang term that means what they want it to mean but sounds reasonable.
